Pretty interesting. I like watching how he closely manages the rear slip angle/oversteer on those corners. He keeps back end buttoned up pretty nice except when he needs just a tad of rotation to get the car turned in. Looks like he makes a slight mistake on the exit at the 1:30 mark; you can see the back slide out a bit at the exit of the turn when he's starting a long straight.
Gotta be tricky as hell in that car to not get power oversteer in those turns yet maximize the acceleration.

Yeah I run a 1990 Ur Quattro 20 valve in addition to the 951 here in the UK. The technology is miles ahead of my '90 951 - it has four valves per cylinder, sequential injection, torsen centre diff etc & max torque kicks in at 1950 rpm! Not bad for a 20-year old turbo motor.
Special Tool you're right about the relatively short gearing on these cars. I'm a kiwi & I can remember that on the Rally of New Zealand one year the police came out with a radar gun to clock some speeds of these monsters on the gravel. On one straight the A2 quattros were htting 240 km/h (150 mph) - on the gravel! A friend who is a mechanic & has rallied at national level & track raced at international level (Group A) said that there is NO comparison between rallying & tracking racing. He said rallying requires skills on another level to track racing. He runs a 400 bhp mid-engined Subaru Justy in hill climbs & on the track, rallies a 500 bhp Scooby Impreza & a mid-engined V8 Skoda (ex-rear-engined).
If you really want to know why we rave about Walter Rohl...perhaps this will enlighten you - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HjXX...eature=related

Thanks for that link Penguin ..
Walter is a legend , and as everyone knows he is a Porsche test driver.
This is taken from a interview with him about the then new Carrera GT and as a side note he explains why they (Porsche) put larger rear tire on the 996 Gt2

Definitely a lot slower than the original GRoupe B cars driven by Toivonen. Makes sense as it is now a vintage private effort and not a werkes effort and toivonen , like Worhl, Mikkola and vatenen where all special drivers .......

Rallying is cute compared to Rallycross.

I have been to a few rallies and it sure is fun to be out in the forest watching the insanity.

That stuff is mildly organised chaos! Crazy fun though.
Also as mad and bad as the Gruppe B stuff is, I'm betting old Bruno's car is running more hp/tq than the older factory cars?
