Finish wheel
I polished the lips of my fuchs last winter but didn't paint the center, I didn't want to spend that much time on it. Well, now since I don't have a clear coat over the lips, I have to really keep up on cleaning them plus I might be painting the centers. Does anyone use like a clear coat on the lips? Also, what kind of paint are peolpe using for the centers?

putting clear over the polished lips can be a real toss up. Using regular automotive clear over aluminum, it looks great but tends to turn yellowish. I knew a guy who would strip/reclear his wheels every year! Best bet would be a clear powdercoat or try www.POR15.com last i looked they had developed a new clearcoat that can be brushed or sprayed on that is meant for this type of application.

if this is anything like POR15 rust coating, it goes along way. I think one quart about did my whole 914!

Some lip gloss for ya
Ok seriously. I have a metal polishing kit with one bottle of polish and one bottle of "sealant", which I assume it like a wax or like rejex or something. I don't know how long it lasts but probably like a few weeks. If you want a more permanent solution, por15.

The factory fuchs wheels have anodized black centers, not painted. The matt anodized finish is hard to duplicate with paint and definitely less resistant to the elements, driving wear and tear, etc.
If you have them anodized, both their appearance and their value will hold up better.

Mike, I just used Krylon satin black for my centers.I do not like the krylon. I dripped gas on the rear one which left a mark that will only come out by repainting. For the lips ,I'm thinking about "zoop seal",something that Summit Racing sells. FRED
