Default Opinion Wanted - 951 engine

Hi Guys,

Just found out some details of what I thought was an engine rebuild however it looks more like a new engine. Not heard of some of the parts used and wanted your opinions. Car will be a DE car!

block has overbored to +100.5
new corrilo rods
new Molly Motor sport pistons
new lifters, valves
head new within last 2000 miles
new oil pump
custom oil baffle and windage tray
newrod bearings, main bearing, seals, gaskets, belts etc

it the above a solid engine base?

PS turbo is K26/8 with after market chip

no need for a new oil pump. why that turbo?

GET A WIDEBAND BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING

the builder is probably the best know porsche garge in Conneticut, (Dan Jacobs) so no worries there! Really interested in your thoughts on parts especially pistons and rods as I am not familiar with them.

reno - which wideband would you reccomend and why?

cheers Dan

Maybe they are Chinese knock-offs

For your application, a wide band is nice, but if you know the chips, and the turbo, (you do know the turbo) then you can run basically stock and you should be just fine. Except for the slight over bore, you got pretty close to a stock 951S engine. Find out about the chips, since you already know the engine builder.
If you are going to screw around with higher boost, and start modifying other components, than a WBO2 is an absolute MUST, IMHO.

Zeitronix Wideband

You need it so you can fine tune your car and get the most of the motor with out blowing it up hehe. Well you acutally need some sort fuel mgt so you can acutally make the changes. i have Zeitronix wideband with the boost sensor and EGT sensor. The wideband allow you see your A/F and other things like EGT, boost, etc

Innovative.

And with that build, unless rules are restrictive. (Obvioulsy not for DE) Using that turbo is just a waste. Comes across highly negative, but meant for dramatic effect. Obiously there is room to grow. So.. WHEN you realize you want more power, you should have no problems handling a larger turbo.
