Is that an old gasket for the rotor cap? Shame on you.

Looking great, not that any of us expected anything less.

Yeah, yeah. Your usual impeccable standard Wayne. You're really going to have to lift your game to new heights oneday. You've set the bar too high, too early. Where else can you go?
I think you should be fair and tell them that there's nothing else to do in South Australia but fix cars so you're at a distinct advantage. haha
Well done....again.
Ps when are you back up in Sydney? Make sure to contact us before you come. Might be able to take you for a ride this time.

Yes it is and it didnt like the wire wheel on the die grinder so that will have to get changed out. At least it doesn't leak oil!

There's plenty more (cleaning) to do on the back end of the car so I'll address that when I get motivated to swap out the torsion bars. I wish there was nothing else to do in SA, then I wouldn't have to fix the car in fits and starts. I have found a good electro plater and a good powder coater so if I can find a good polisher I'll be very happy. I'd love to go for a ride in your car when I get to Sydney next time. I've got to do some work with some folks at williamtown in March so maybe I can turn that into a stay for a few days.

Yes there's plenty to do in South OZ like work your way through some totally chunky Barossa Shiraz's that you need a knife and fork for. lol
Hopefully we'll be ready by March. It's going to be close though. What date are you up here?
I'm busting out of my skin to make our first race of Season 2008 and my first since 2006. It's on the 8th March so maybe our worlds might collide then?

Picked up the modified AC lines on the way home from work, so I put those in and put the motor in tonight.

Patrick I was aiming for about the 13th at Williamtown. Having a look at your first event would be good.. may as well add a bit of pressure eh ?

Looks great Wayne!
Well not sure if you can get up here so much earlier than the 13th, but having said that we are aiming to go to Wakefield park on the 13th (couple hours out of Sydney) with the PC of Canberra, but the 8th would be a better day for you as there will be more decent cars and a better track. See how your diary pans out.

I had planned to put the motor in yesterday but since the AC lines didnt come back I polished the manifold instead.
Inspirational stuff. What did you do to get your intake looking like that?

This is a quote of what I wrote on the web page ( http://www.oz951.com/public/sister.htm )

"This is time consuming. I used an abrasive fibrous wheel on a drill to cut back the rough surface. Then I used 60/100/240/320/400 grit paper to remove the scratches. I would also use 800 but I didn't have any on hand. After sanding I used a regular bench grinder to do the polishing with a loose leaf calico mop / white buffing compound. It was not really necessary to use the stitched sisal mop and fast cut (gray) compound. I worked some of the nooks & crannies with a dremel with the small sanding drum attachments or grinding stone attachments but the grinding stones tend to clog pretty quickly."

Something else I learned today with the RHD steering rack is that it has a grease nipple that if over tightened will actually bind the steering rack. I find it surprising that this is possible and so I wonder if a PO replaced the grease nipple with one that is too long or perhaps removed a spacer of some kind. Anyone else with a RHD car ever come across this issue before ?

If your driving on the 13th I may well be in a great position to get some video of your cars from overhead. Just arrange it so there is no cloud cover will you.

Thanks Gator, Yeah I was lying on my back under the car last night (as you do ) enjoying the cleanliness of it all, and wondering how long it will last lol.

I just put the Tial wastegate into my car with a set of SFR adapters. It's done and all good but there was plenty of head scratching when I went to install the wastegate in the car because the flanges were not even close to lining up. The adapters came with no instructions and I was under the impression it was a bolt in mod (ie assuming no metal cutting) but after a while with trying various things to make it fit I concluded that the end of the long dump tube would need to be trimmed about 10mm. That solved the problem but would have been nice to know before wasting time ginning around trying to make it fit without trimming the pipe.

Did I just get unlucky or do the (SFR) adapter kits not generally include any installation guides?

Finished install below. 6mm gap between the torsion houing and the wastegate. (More info/pics/notes on the web page.)
