Say what you want, I LOVE my 951S, but I'd also adore a 928GTS sitting alongside it.

On the long drives, the 928 can be utterly seductive. The 951 feels best when you're 'wringing its neck'... I find the 951 rather less relaxing

I wont race for titles, unless you plan on throwing an obscene amount of money on top of the 928. Not a shot at the 928 in any way, just if you knew the money and man hours in this you'd have the same response as most people "In your car?!?! On what?!?!?" But I'd gladly do some friendly runs on camera in the spring Kevin. I'm in Philly a ton and host an annual car meet there in the spring that attracts 500+ cars and is growing by the year. You should bring the shark out.

Oh yeah, and 0-60 and 1/4 mile are repetitive, better test would be 60-120.

Let's see, double the displacement, also boosted...

That's pretty much a DUH as to who would win.

Better challenge would be on a road course.

Dime, dont count me out, much better power to weight and very few people here know how much power my car will be putting down next year. Car made 394whp on pump gas on the OLD setup weighing in a sub 2700lbs. Much lighter and faster now!

I suggest that we all meet at the Texas Mile event in spring 2008 and let the numbers do the talking.

I had a very very nice 90 928 GT and my 2.8 951S is just as nice on those long trips! Before I did the 2.8 it was very much like you describe. With the 2.8 it has that top end umph that means you can cruise along in traffic, then pass or close that gap by just mashing the right foot, no downshift required. And the 951 does have that motor at one end and tranny at the other that makes it very stable at speed on the highway like the 928.

I've driven all versions of 944's and all versions of 928's except 1979-1981 models and have owned a few different versions.

They are great cars with similar feel but detail differences. It's like apple pie, there are several good recipes that contains the same base ingredients, give the same pleasure but delivers differently.
