The closest I got to see "old" Tallinn was when Markus picked up his new wheels and we were trapped in an uncomfortable backyard and I feared for my money ![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Somehow both money and wheels made it out of there hehe..

Yes that's one of the amazing things about parts of Europe, just the age of buildings, towns etc..We went to Pompeii when in Italy. Unreal.

Most likely you will turn a key on Friday. Engine installation was almost ready when we checked it out Yesterday. Kert seemd to be good and fast mechanic.

We made 10 hours (from which we spent 6 hours in Ferry) trip to collect Markus' parts 968, which is now for it's final "rest place" in Erkki's garage.

Yeah.. I neede to make some room in the garage.. and thanks for the parts Olli..
One thing that made me jealous is the trailer you had for the pickup.. Nice and clean... I wish I had one of these..
Its a bit funny to have you and Gustav over to Estonia.. your both faces looked in the way similar when went to the garage witch is basically in the middle of nowhere and just abandoned factories around.. :P, I quess you dont see much stuff like that in your countries but belive me, in couple of years there are no signs of communism what so ever..
Cheers

But in general it really seems like Estonia is making amazing progress.
But people are still very prejudice in the rest of the world... the look on peoples faces when I said I was going to Tallinn to buy a Porsche engine

I was first time in Estonia back in 1985 when Soviet Union was still going strong. Next time i was there in 1992, just few months after new "independence", installed then Estonians first IBM AS/400 system to Eesti Riigi Arvuutuskeskus (IT center of Estonian state) . From those days Estonia has been taken huge steps to western system. I managed to see only one Lada last weekend, but in first 10 minutes after we left from the harbour i saw 4 Cayennes ![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
It's just natural it takes time to "cure" & repair all infrastructure back to where it was after 52 years of communist system. If you compare to other Baltic countries, Estonians has made it best. Also east part of Germany is still in under "cureing process".
The only negative side for us Finns is the fact younger Estonians do not speak Finnish that much. Under Soviet system most Estonians watched the Finnish TV and learned to talk fluent Finnish. Altough seems to me it's quite easy to learn some Estonian, our languages are quite close after all. Luckily all younger ones speak fluent English.
Gustaf, did you have a ferry from Stockholm-Tallin-Stockholm or did you use the ferry from Kapellskär?

Some part of the journey was hell... A women threw up in the restaurant next me while I was having dinner...
Not the best time of year going out on Östersjön!

I know the feeling. Back in 1995 i had one of those fast catamarans from Helsinki to Tallin. The weather was rough and an older woman had a heart attack and she died...
