Likely oil starvation. The same thing happened to me when I badly overheated my motor. The exhaust valve guides also tightened and the valves lightly kisssed the pistons.
The cam box is the end of the oil supply line so seems to be the first to suffer. I was amazed that my bottom end was perfect,

I would be sure to replace the pressure reducing valve in the head that regulates oil to the cam tower. At some point Porsche revised this valve but I'm not sure what year.
I'd also inspect the lifters pretty closely as well and use a different cam tower.
