Default Tial install question

Archives search gives me the understanding that the Tial enters/exits exhaust the opposite of the stock WG. Does the valve side attach to the exit tube or the inlet tube? The Tial info diagram shows the valve side being the inlet for the exhaust. There is no way the Tial will fit on my application ('87 951) unless the unit points up toward the engine, like the stock unit. Plenty of room that way- no other orientation will work. The way the flanges are attached on my unit, the grooved flange that would normally fit on the outlet tube is on the valve side (the unit was sold by Paur Tuning I think- I've had it for a number years now). Before I rearched installation, I thought maybe the flanges had been put on wrong. Anyway, bottom line is: does the valve face the inlet or exit tube?

I have a 87 with a 38mm tial and it fit in fine with very little mods. Yes you have to install it backwards. Search its deffently on here because thats how i found out. As matter of fact you can search my name if you want and you will find it. In mean time i will look for the pics in my external hard drive.

A little extra work, but safety wire is where it's at!

I'm just about to fit a 38mm Tial WG as well.

Can I use the existing standard supporting bracket?

Thanks

I could not get it to line back up so I left the bolt out of it. Does not seem to adversely affect anything.

I was able to use mine. Just have to reposition it so it all lines up.

Installing the tial that way; doesn't the valve open into a smaller pipe (the one that comes from the cross-over)? There wouldn't be as much room, to flow exhaust gases, from the outside edges of the valve to the ID of that pipe (as opposed to dumping into the bigger pipe with the stock wastegate).

Did you rotate the clamp around the torque tube?

Is this how all Tial wastegates are? My 46mm is not installed like that, it is installed just like the original.
