Hey hands off Kevin's car as an Avatar! I stole that, get your own. lol
Kevin, I love your car and the side exhaust is a nice touch. Ever burn your eyebrow's off?
OT but what gearbox do you use too? Also, do you have to have those supports for the rear lexan hatch? I have a lexan hatch and I've seen this on a few. Is the danger the lexan popping out of the frame?
Sorry Reno, back to the program. On 2nd thoughts, go for the side exhaust. Why not?

I have been looking into a side exhaust for quit some time now. For me, other then being coool, the advantage would be that I could use a fuel cell and diffuser, and clean up the under-car aerodynamics.

Problem is that I can't see how it could be done without sacrificing the passenger chair, which I do not want to do. Part of the fun of a track car for me is taking people with me. There is just not enough room under the car. I mean, for the exhaust, not for the people

An option I have thought about is placing the muffler behind the passenger chair, through the car. That would require a 90 deg. bend. Anybody know if that is feasible?

I'll make side exaust for my track car. It serves a purpose especially on turbocharged cars as it results much less pipes depending on the exit location.

I'll have to check our GT class rules about the exit point, was it mandatory to make it behind the centerline of the car or not. If not, I'll go right after the front passenger wheel (turbo is in the "right" side ).

But, there's usually a noise regulations also so with very short side exaust one has to address the exaust noise dampening pretty seriously.

And oh, 924 DP aka 933 track car had side exaust from the factory

I'm also planing a side exhaust for my 951 racecar, something similar like Hans mentioned. With some body modification it could be done.

At the time that picture was taken there was no Porsche racing division in Estonia, only Soviet T-72 divisions...

Back to the topic. I just had to go to the garage and take a look of the bottom of my car. It's easy because it's on jackstands without sideskirts.
The side exhaust for street car could be done, not like it's done in McMerc SLR ( it's too forward ), but placing end pipes just in front of rear wheels. Main exhaust on the LH side and wastegate on the RH side. Silencer ( for main ) fits nicely into the center tunnel and after that just 45 deg bend and oval/flat pipes... Symmetrical oval tips through Gemballa/Strosek style ( like Markus' ) side skirts.
Floor pan requires aluminium heat shielding and pipes should be wrapped with ThermoTec.
Then you could remold rear of the car using venturi panels and suitable safety fuel cell.
