LOL... They really dont look that bad, I thought it looked nice when I picked up the car...
Strekfu's: They might as well have been attached with tape... they are losely attached with a few screws! I am suprised they never flew off while I was deep into triple digit speeds, although I am thinking about removing them for good when I paint the car in a month or so....

Actually, the original overflow tanks were that color. They do become more cloudy and crack with heat cycles and age, but they came new from the factory off-yellow semi opaque. Only the new replacement parts are white.

Some responses to this thread...
I posted info on this car in another thread ("Value of 944T's") in the forum.
A couple of observations/opinions.
This car was previously for sale at "Road Scholars," in NC and offered on eBay for $35K with no takers. At the Road Scholar website it has been reported as "Sold" for some time. RPM is another high-end exotic/collector-car dealer. They may have purchased it for something less than $35K and upped the price--who knows?
951's are NOT "collector cars" in some senses of the term. One of the "definitions" of a collector car is one that will bring more money in today's $$ than it cost when new--sometimes by many, many multiples. Consider '73 RS's that sold for less than $10K and now go for $250K and up. At $43K this car is selling for HALF what it cost when new (maybe less??) in 1988 money.
That doesn't mean there aren't enthusiasts/collectors who will pay this money for such a car. There are and that's what the guys at RPM are betting on. This car is UNIQUE and I'm pretty sure it will sell sooner or later. I sold my '87 with 21K miles for $18.5K last year and I heard the same things about it's being overpriced, would never sell, etc. It sold rather quickly and generated a fair amount of interest in the process.
Regarding seals, hoses, rubber, etc. It completely depends on how the car has been taken care of. My '87 was virtually like a brand-new car. I could never document it, but I was told that it was in a "collection" setting--heated, climate controlled, etc. There were no cracks, drying, oil leaks, hard rubber--nada on that car. It was really something!
These threads on 951 values always seem to stir things up here on RL

Stephen,
I remember your car for sale - it was a beautiful example. IIRC, the interior was particularly eye-catching - Sport Seats and all.
I'm glad you sent in the sales report to Excellence - I've been getting more and more pissed at Bruce each time he gets a sale from the 944 series that is on the "high" ("high" in this case being anything north of $11 or $12k) and notes that "the seller did well here." At some point, after X number of sales, it starts to become less of a fluke and more of a market trend. He's been especially bad with the 968 sales as of late.
I was actually after a platinum on brown 86 on Ebay here recently. His mileage was also in the 20s, and I believe it went for $16-17k. I don't think this car will get into the $40s, but I would consider a price in the high $30s fair... even if I hate those damn boxed rockers too
Congrats again on your sale.
Micah

In case anyone is wondering about the boxed rocker panels they are a factory item LOL. I have the 1989 accessories brochure and they're in it.
Turbocab I don't think there's an option for sunroof delete. It just wouldn't have M650 listed on the option code sticker. The removable roof was an extra.

I'm trying to get some info on whether Road Scholars SOLD that car to the current dealer or if it was traded or passed on on consignment or something.
Thanks. I miss the car, but I always enjoy looking for another, better one! I wish I could afford to own more than one at a time!!! I ran across this while looking recently and, call me weird....but I'm tempted... ;-).
