Well, I bought a new 3/8 fitting to go in the turbo, but the threads appear to be different. I know a ton of people have made this work (including me on the old turbo), but the brass fitting doesn't fit. WTF? I'm a bit perplexed. Those that have done it, can you enlighten me (apparently again ).

I think I found the answer in another thread - looks like I need to get a M16X1.5 die.

Brass tends to be imperial!

Refer NPT, GAS, BSP etc

When making your new thread, make sure you are square and watch where those shavings go...

Found a male-to-male flare to union pipe fitting at Lowe's. Works like a champ!

I am not clear on what you are doing here.
I am sure you know that using anything other than 16x1.5 will result in coolant climbing the threads - this is not an option.
You must use the correct fitting.
Lowes does not have anything for you.

So why don't we solve this problem once and for all. Tools suggestion solves the problem of different sized Turbo compressor sizes by going under the problem. Next is the need for a Tee connection to get both of the stock lines connected. Last step is the connection of the turbo temp sensor which is a feature I want to keep. And the tread size isn't 3/8 NPT, it is a German car so metric is the standard.

So, let’s have at it. Anyone game?

Need to find a fitting like this for the sensor. This could go directly on the Turbo since both ends are M14 x1.5. Put on fitings from Summit in tool post, add a tee to the water line and you should have a universal solution.

I've posted this often but if it helps all of these fittings came from Lowes or Home Depot. I have had no issues with leaks and all of them threaded in normally. I do not know what sizes they are as I just brought in what I needed and found fittings that matched the threads. All parts are brass, painted black so they don't corrode. The T fitting has the smaller aftermarket temp sensor on the back of it just under the intake in the pic.

Do you still have this bracket in place?

I no longer have that bracket but I still used this same setup with that bracket. I just used a couple different pieces so it would clear. I had the "T" pointed up with the temp sensor on the top and no extension piece in the middle. I do not have the stock oil feed tube nor use it in the stock location either.

I'm not saying this exact setup will work for everyone else, just that there are endless possibilities with these brass fittings at any local hardware store to make it all fit anyway that you want. So doing something similar will work for anyone.
