The problem with the PET from the Porsche site is it is over 1 year old already. It doesn't have the part cross refrence functions, search capabilities, or more. It doesn't even show the internals of the 996 six speed transmission. Get the real version.

I prefer the acrobat files on the Porsche site. I can use the google search to find crossreferences, or search by partial part numbers, and email a copy of one page to my parts guy so there is no question about what I want.

In addition, the old PET program had size limitations and would not run on a Mac.

As far as being over a year old, the PET executable is older than that anyway. I doubt that Porsche is going to let me on PIWIS to find what I need there.

Wrong on all counts. You can't enter old part numbers in the google seach on the PDF PET. PET 7.0 has no size limitations. One doesn't need to run 1280x1064 anymore. And I have PET executable that runs up thru the 2008 models.

If you have a 944, I think you would be fine with the last PET 6.50 released in August of 2007 It is update 214. PM or email me if you are interested in either version.

OMG. Well that explains why he resurrected the thread since Michelle's last post on 09-13-2007.

I just did this. Depending on the nuts you use, 35mm might work. The exhaust hardware kit sold here a while back had 35mm bolts, but I found them to be a bit short to get full thread engagement with copper lock nuts. The 40mm bolts can some very close to the downpipe flange, so I ended up grinding a few mm's off the end of 40mm bolts....

A link to an on-line PET has been up in the Forum Guidelines thread for awhile now:
