I am pretty sure he is going to be running fiberglass wide body parts.

Isn't that tire only rated to 130mph?

My guess is it will never been an issue.

I thought he was going to run some open road events. If you mean the project will never see completion, maybe so, but I think he'll see it through.

Based on what he said in the update, the car is a looker, not a runner. So no open road events, and hence I doubt a 130mph limited tire will ever be an issue.

Thanks guys,

951and944S: That much steel being added on would just be a waste. The fiberglass panels will save me quite a bit of weight (and allow for the extra weight of a fuel cell, cage) and plus I can always just rip them off and replace them if there is a fender bender.

The huge monster tires are for the show aspect and street running to fill up the tire well completely. I'll be running 335's for track events, and smaller tires for top speed runs etc. I just thought its pretty amazing that there is a 455mm wide tire so I have to get them, its my weakness.

As far as the car's purpose, its being designed in the same fashion that the 911 GT1 was built (the roadcar) so its going to be a race car on the street. This all started out as sort of an ultimate cross country Cannonball car, and when its done will participate in such events for sure. As well as DE events so I can learn to drive this beast.

SD Porsche Fan is kind of right, if I open the taps on the loud pedal i'll be looking at close to 5mpg possibly, but if i'm easy on it the Tec3 setup will adjust to my driving and give me decent milage. All in all its to make sure I have enough go juice to go the distance.
Chris White is going to make the magic happen on the suspension so it will be harsh but not unbearable on the street but still hold its own on the track with a Moton package. All in all it will have an impressive top speed, and get there very, very quickly.

Thanks for all the compliments everyone.

Looks great! Are you at all worried about the fuel cell being too far rear in the event of a rear-ender? Certainly wouldn't want your car to become the next Pinto!

So when do you get back Stateside?

hehe-- you probably could buy a real GT1 for how much $$ you are going to have into this thing by the time it is finished !!

Seriously though, cool project.

Guns, first, I damned sure hope you're staying safe. Second, I'm always a fan of someone having a crazy dream and seeing it through to the end. Good luck with the rest. It's really fun to watch.
Afterall it's YOUR dream car, not anyone elses.
