About 2-3 times in the last year I have noticed my expansion tank level drop about an inch but there were no visible leaks so I feared for the worst and have been waiting to see what happens since I have no smoke under throttle. Getting ready to put my intake back on and I see liquid. At first I thought it was oil that had some how reach the base of the coolant pipe but after a sniff it was confirmed coolant. It is a visible amount but no signs of it flowing or dripping down the engine. The allen head bolts look very corroded. The parts catalog doesn't show a gasket used here or a part number for the bolts. Do you use a sealant instead? I'm now trying to choose if its worth trying to fix or not, I mean it is just a bit around the inlet and its not dripping anywhere.

Option 1, replace it (You're an idiot if you don't)

Probably not a big deal, but I would definately replace it. Not only is it a PIA to re-remove the intake when it gets worse, but its a cheap fix. Also, I am **** like that and couldn't sleep knowing it was like that

Is it just a sealant that is used as a seal or is there a actual gasket? It looks like its going to be a bitch since those bolts are so deteriorated. It also looks like two pieces because the 90 degree angle covers one of the bolts but the catalog shows its one.

Keith, this is the coolant neck coming out of the head in the front? If so, yes it's two pcs and requires two gaskets.

I had that water connection leak after assembly with clean parts, new gaskets and bolts torqued to spec... go figure. Added some silicone sealant to the lower gasket which cured the problem.

This looks like another PITA job, I know the allen heads are not going to last.

Whats the part numbers for the bolts and gaskets?

80% chance that the bolt will snap. I have drilled out lot of those particular bolts.
It almost looks like coolant is dipping on to the bolt as opposed to leaking out fron under it. There is a hose conenction right near it - check that out.
Best thing to do is to get a coolant pressure tester and crank up the pressue to 18 or so - you can see the cold coolant leaking out that way.

I trying to figure out how long its been like this. The car hasn't been driven in almost a month. Went the car is running and warmed up I never noticed the leak. Coolant dries so obviously it hasn't been lingering around like oil. I can see some red silicone type sealant around the edges. Oh, the bolt that is visible but blurry in the above picture was a little bit loose so I tightened it something like a quarter of a turn to not strip it.

I'll try and find a shop that'll lend me a pressure tester, isn't 18psi a bit much?

If you don't want to wait for shipping and whatnot, I know that parts heaven has the gaskets and the two goose neck pieces if you need new ones.

I accidentaly tore those gaskets when i removed that adaptor and neck, new ones are cheap:

I thought about parts heaven was a used parts dealer? Pelican has free shipping for orders over $75 and they're located in norcal so it seriously takes two days. Search didn't bring it up on their website but the part number did, thanks hussam!

Mostly used parts, but they do have a lot of new parts as well. When I went down there they had some new under-engine body trays, new battery covers, etc. They have all the gaskets and whatnot to rebuild the engine (at least according to the website). They also do orders on custom lloyd's mats, and have oils and brake fluids and whatnot. They really do carry almost everything for the cars, which probably was why nicole was thinking of using them to sell her clear corners.

Auto Zone, at least the ones around here, loan them out for free. You need to leave a deposit, but get it all back when you return the tool. (Just in case none of your friends have one you can borrow...)
