Default Throttle body reseal with a few questions

So I did a TB reseal today. It was pretty simple with only minor difficulties with the shaft pushing the o-ring seals out when installing it. My return spring is seeming a little weak but after seeing the price for a new one ($35) I'll wait to see how this one does. How well is the throttle plate supposed to seal around the interior of the TB? I can see a little light around the edges of mine. I wish I would have looked before.

I think when I did mine there was a gap about the width of a human hair between the plate and the throttle body

Remember that the engine still needs air to idle. That is how mine looks.

Good i'm glad I'm not the only one who can "see the light". The idle screw and the vent in the top of the insides of the TB regulate idle.

I forgot to reinstall this part, will it be ok? There wasn't a new one in the kit.

Anyone know where to get a new TB return spring for less than $35? Anyone have a GOOD used one? I tested my TB spring by opening and letting it snap shut. Under a WOT like condition the TPS would click shut and under light throttle conditions it is not closing all the way and the TPS is not clicking.

That piece keeps the return spring centered on the throttle shaft and it might help with your problem. I think you're going to want that installed. Bruce

also make sure you did not install the spring upside down. I had the same problem and it ended up being the orientation of the spring.

Alright so the seal on my throttle body screw was very flat so in a recent order I placed I through the cheap ($4) part in the online cart. It said it was for all 944 turbo models. Package came today and this screw is a good amount shorter than my original and the size of the thread is different. Which one is correct for my car?!

I think the throttle plate not sealing to the throttle body is a manufacturing defect....mine is the same way. I've been passively trying to source a throttle plate for a while now w/ no luck. Anywho, here's my post about the same issue:

https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...=throttle+body

I agree w/ what you say...throttle plate should seal to the body (no light) and idle is controlled by the bypass.

Didn't the reseal kit come with a new o-ring for that screw? I could have sworn mine did...

Obviously if the new one is a different size and thread than the original one that you took out, you want to re-use the original one.

You have revealed that I am an idiot. I just found the seal and put the old one back in. pelican and lindsey both sell this weird screw as the throttle screw.

anyway, check your venturi thread as I have another stupid question there too.

Keith, I just bought a return spring from a local P dealer for $18, perhaps try another? I am having same problem, I'll let you know this weekend if the spring does it.
