Default Turbo Issues

My car is currently causeing some issues lately and I am not sure what might be cauesing this.

When I am at full boost 10psi or 15psi (depending on stock vs chips) and shift the car lets out some white smoke. Normal driving conditions it doesn't smoke but upon making the boost and shifting it does.

Lets say I am in 4th and step on the gas and get boost up to the 10psi area and shift into 5th, it is at the point in time when I let the clutch out when it blows out the smoke.

any ideas? I had guru chips and I put the stock chips back in, I have checked for vacuum leaks and can't find any. I am to the point where I think it might be the turbo letting go, but before I go that far and tear it apart, I wanted to see if there were any other ideas.

If it is the turbo where can i find a rebuild kit for a 86 k26/6?

Thank you

Zach

sounds like a head gasket.

Ive got a simliar problem, but its when i am under full throttle, 15 psi boost. letting off the load doesnt worsen the problem, gets better actually. grey smoke coming out the rear.. no oil in the coolant, no coolant in the oil, but the oil is disapearing from the dipstick rather quickly. im thinking my turbo needs a rebuild. Any thoughts? Someone once told me a long time ago before i put my car, a 911 guy actually, that if you get that white smoke after dumping the throttle it is indicative of worn pistons.

That sounds almost exactly like my issue.

Anyone have any other ideas or suggestions.

I'd have to agree with the head gasket concern first...pressure test your cooling system, check for air, and you may find that it may be creeping into your system.

I have the same issue and im thinking its the turbo. No hard proof but its an excuse for me to buy a new turbo.

fresh head gasket,,, replaced due to having oil in the coolant, and coolant in the oil along with massive amounts of extra pressure finding its way into the coolant causing it to look like it was seriously overheating when it wasnt at all. btw my turbo has 210,000 miles on it without a rebuild. the engine has been done in different times from different reasons but the turbo has never been touched.

Mine smoked grey if i just floor it, if i run low boost (5psi) for a few moments, then increase the boost to 15psi (using the throttle/my foot) it does not smoke, at least for 15 minutes then it smoked grey.

I recently had the gasket replaced in Jan, and since i had the cam housing off, i checked the cylinder head torque (for a peace of mind) and it is fine (clicks on 65lbs). Like you guys, no loss of coolant, no mixing.

So, i have a new turbo going in, AOS seals getting replaced as well.

The last time I checked the fluids was a week ago and everything was right where it should be. No coolant in the oil, no oil in the coolant. Doesn't run hot at all.

This has been leading me to turbo issues as well. Wondering if it would be cheaper to rebuild the one I have or get a TurboS turbo and rebuild that?

Then again I could be totally wrong and it could be something like a vacuum that I am missing somewhere or something entirely differant, I want to be sure before I tear stuff apart.

I have the exact same problem, no coolent in oil and vice versa. The engine runs cool, and I have an oil leak on the back side of the turbo. This car was in storage for a while with only 75,000 miles.

sorry, never answered the question. coolant level is fine, no change in 2,000 miles. perfectly between the min and max lines.

I have a Zeintronix setup in the car and noticed that I am running around 10.8a/f ratio at 5psi and at or around 10.4 at 11psi. This would mean the car is running rich correct? If so what would be causeing that? Like I said the car is stock, nothing is done to it right now. Could it be the oxygen sensor gone bad?
