Question Cam Assembly ?

Just a quick question regarding installing the cork gasket at the back of the cam cover. What type of sealant do you use when installing?

none! if you use anything itll push itself out. PUt the cork on dry, tighten only moderately by hand- retighten after the car has been hot a few times.

Hi Dave, Yeah.. starting to get assemblies back together, It's been a frustrating roller coaster. I'm hoping that it will be back on the road soon. Neil's work is "perfection" (Performance Development) and a great guy to work with. Thanks again for getting involved. This project took on a life of it's own and I almost threw in the towel! Glad I did'nt. It's not often you find good..great people willing to step up and make things happen. THANKS. Let me know if and when you're in Southern Cal. Drinks and stories on me.

Question More ???

Hey guys...bringing this thread back because I think I may have recieved the wrong sleeve and/or seal. I've assembled all the cam parts and there's play in the seal that's pressed in the cam gear housing and sleeve. I would think the seal should have contact with the sleeve for a proper seal? Is there varying sizes? BTW - I pressed the seal in the housing with the solid face down...into the housing, from the diagram I'm working with it appears that's the way it goes in. Thanks as always for your help

IIRC the correct torque is some thing like 6 or 8 lbs if you have a torque wrench..

ryanm6100 - don't think we're on the same page. I'm referring to the "shaft seal" and "spacer sleeve" that sits just behind the cam gear. The seal I'm assuming should (don't know for sure) make contact with the sleeve to create the seal. Thanks for the reply...nice camera angle.
