Well I received my Kep stage 2 PP today. When I opened the box I first noticed a lack of padding in the box on one side of the PP (there was no padding on one side). and some of the air bags were flat for even worse padding.
THen I fixed my eyes on a rusted and oxidized PP. I have no idea what condition they come in but I woukld think that a $600 PP would be in PERFECT condition. Im posting a pic so tell me what you think. Is this a new unit in "new" condition? or did I get a piece of crap?
TIA

Mine looked about like that. I just looked at it and saw a little surface oxidation from a piece of steel sitting in the open for a while, doesnt strike me as out of the ordinary. Now its in the car and will be in use within a few weeks...

if its the right part- alittle surface rust wont hurt anything- and youll never see it in the car... now if it were something like wheels- yeah i would be pissed!

I agree, from what I know, that looks like a KEP 1. KEP 2 should be marked KEP 2. But it's been awhile since I looked at mine so I could be wrong.

If you look closely on one of the fingers, to the left of where KEP is marked in the aluminum, you can see it is marked stage ? - can't tell if it says 1 or 2. The stage 2's I've seen also have 'KEP II' in the aluminum.
My stage I has the heat treatment discoloration on the tips of the fingers, but doesn't have the rust/oxidation. Yours looks new to me, but has just been sitting for a bit or maybe not too long but in a damp climate.

The PP says Stage 2 on one of the fingers. Does this sound right? or should it be marked on the surounding?
I called the supplier and they stated that I could get a new one if I paid shipping. I am not impressed with this supplier and expected much more out of them for being such a large supplier or porsche parts...I will be sticking with pelican and 944online for future purchases.

Give KEP a call and ask about IDing the PP and if that is considered "new". Everything I have ever read on here in regards to their customer service has been great. Looks like that thing has been sitting for a long time and might not be the current revision off their PP. It's possible the "new" replacement as the supplier says...may actually just be another one off of his pile of KEP antiques that just isn't as rusty as the one you got...

I'd definitely give KEP a call to confirm everything's on the up and up if the supplier won't help. I would think they'd want to make sure you're good.
My stage I looks like the bottom picture in Lart's post above, but is stamped STAGE I on one of the fingers.

I will call Kep and see what they say about the PP. Its not worth it to pay $60 for shipping to get another product of the same caliber...
Paragon did not strike me as a business I want to do future transactions with. Both product and service/support.
