Just for fun...How many 951 cars do you folks think there are in the USA?? Any guesses of production numbers versus "elimination" by trial and fire?

Production Numbers:
Total 944 Turbos built in the world (including Cup)
86/91 - 25,245
Number shipped to the USA
1986 - 7,513
1987 - 3,210
1988 - 1,874 (718 Turbo S)
1989 - 1,385
Total - 13,982
How many left in USA? My guess 70% or 10,000
My 1986 Turbo - 1 of a kind. Definately "Just for Fun"

Bill, I have different numbers than you:
7-8 '86 Club Sport/Cups were imported by Al Holbert/Porsche Motorsport North America for the '86 SCCA Escort season.
11 '87 Club Sport/Cups were imported to North America in 87, 9 of which came in to Holbert/PMNA, 2 went to Canada - possibly for review/evaluation for the upcoming Canadian/Rothmans Turbo Cup Series.
38 '88 Turbo Cups were imported to Canada for the Rothmans Series '88-90. I think only 36 of the cars were actually raced in the series.

I would estimate that only a small fraction of the original number of cars sold in the US are still on the road. I remember that after the Turbo was introduced here in '86, you would see them on the road almost daily in Boston area. Now I'm lucky to see more than a handful in an entire year (except at Rennlist/PCA functions). Where have they all gone?

Oddjob,
I was not involved with the Cup series. I have marveled at your Cup Car knowlege, be it technical or numbers, in your prior posts. If you don't mind me asking, what was your involvement. I would understand if you did not wish to respoond. My curiousity always gets the best of me.
The information I referenced in my post came from the Peter Morgan book.

I own a 1969 convertable Karman Ghia. 4,800 were made worldwide. 2,200 were shipped to the USA. How many of those are left? Who knows. I may see 1 a year on the road here in California.
I wonder if a company like Barrett Jackson has a way of finding out how many of a breed is left in existence.

Nordschleife Master
There is a guy in my town that has one, I spoke with him at infineon once but he didn't have the car with him or tell me much about it. I really want to see it as it sounds like a amazing car. How much are they worth?
