*UPDATED* Page 2 for finished pictures
Just like it says. I just received my new black seat upholstery kit. About to throw it on as I have the time tonight. Any good tips for me?
Thanks in advance

Before you hog ring them, stretch them over the frames, clamp them and let them sit a few days to settle. You can work out the wrinkles each day before finishing. I'm not a pro but have seen this when I've had some done on restos.

Where did you get your seat covers from and how much? Happy with the quality?
I have heard of people putting plastic grocery bags over the top of the headrest foam before sliding the new cover on to help it go on easier, then pulling the bag out once it is over the top. Let us know how it goes and pass on any tips you find. About to do the same project myself.

When I redid my seats I did a few upgrades that needed attention. It's a good time to install a new fabric between the springs and spring ties, shade cloth works well and won't rot like the cotton Porsche used. The more support you can give the foam between the springs the longer the foam or "plugs" will last and the seat won't sag as much. Make sure that the new covers are pulled down uniformly between the seat platform and bolsters. They need to be snug when you hog ring them to the rods. It's also a good idea to reinforce the bottom seat areas where the bolsters join the platform. Some good nylon binding folded over those points with hand stitching will prevent the separations that always seems to happen, especially near the hinged part of the seat. Another thing that helps is gluing down a thin 1/4" layer of high density foam over the old plugs. If you do this the new covers will turn out much smoother and the cover won't shift as much on the slippery old plugs. If you still get wrinkles and loose spots you can remove them by a fine spraying the leather with distilled water, let it sit for about 10 minutes and use a hair dryer and your hand to smooth it out. If you are using vinyl material. a hair dryer alone will remove most of the wrinkles. DO NOT use too much heat, if your hand gets too hot just back off a few more inches. You don't want to melt anything. Good Luck on the project.

I got them Here on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...8909806&rd=1,1
And so far the install is going great. The bottom cushion looks great with really no wrinkles. Ive got a feeling the top is going to be hard to smooth as I think it will be prone to wrinkles. But sadly I think I just lost my security deposit because I have 5 black grease spots on my carpet...... #%@#Q&* #@%#*

I need a stapler that spreads the ends of the staples outward. I cant do the top sections until I get this. Because there is no other way to secure the back pad to to the vinyl other than staples.

Can you explain what you mean by this. Are you referring to the hog rings as staples? Any pics to explain how you are doing this and where you are having trouble. As stated earlier I am fixing to go through this myself so I would like to understand where the trouble areas might be also.
