Q for people running Rx-7 oil coolers...
Quick question for those running Rx-7 oil coolers: When the original thermostat is removed how do you plug the bypass hole that's between the two halves of the inlet/outlet chamber? I just pulled my donor apart to get a weld in AN- fitting on the end of the outlet chamber and notice the hole...

I have mine at Lemco Motorsports in south Dallas. Matt, the owner (hoosier daddy) is here on Rennlist and he is going to make a whole new end tank. he may be interested in doing the same for you.

Running on two years on a nut bolt combo in there with high temp thread locker, as suggested by and rx-7 message board.
Over the past two years I have pulled the plugged a few times to check on the nut bolt combo to see if it has come loose, nothing yet.

Ok, thanks gang. I'll go w/ nut, bolt, and high temp threadlocker method.
Azmi, I already have a guy lined up to do the weld in AN fitting..thanks though. Post some pics of what he does for ya.
Shorty,
(If I'm reading your post correctly) We're talking about the bypass hole that is inside the end tank, not the port plug that holds the original thermostat in. You might want to do the same nut/bolt combo so it forces the oil through the cooler and not through the bypass. Not sure if that would cause a pressure drop or not but definately makes the cooler less affective.
