That's why I'm venting to atmosphere, otherwise I would do it the factory way...however, my mechanic says that if I were to do it, gravity would make the oil drip down to the K&N cone filter...

okay - but remember - I have forgotten more about the 951 than your mechanic will ever know.
The oil won't drip down - like it doesn't on mine - that's why you have a catch-can - and that's why Porsche did it this way.

The reason why you have fumes is because the catch can is vented i would by the moroso adaptor like some rennlisters have do a search and the part # comes up and hook it up to the j-pipe. problem sloved
