The final finish is a nice touch. Do you have a picture from the drivers view? Here is a pic of my guage set up.

hey Nize - afraid it would not be cost effective for anybody to buy. The time it took was way too much for resale.

If you pay my normal subcontract hourly rate it would run you roughly $440 + materials hahaahaha.

sorry.

2bridges,

Thank you for the photo. They do not obstruct the gauges behind. Nice work. What product did you use for the crinkle finish? Also, could a guy make this from plastic to make the fabrication easier or does the mount have to be very thin metal to allow clearance for the wheel?

Reno,

The guages are angled toward the driver which is part of the trick in making four fit. You can see the build up of my guage set up here.

too funny - I can't work in plastic. saw your guage setup posted a long time back and though that was what I would do. After buyn a doner trim with vents and starting I ended up with a big *** mess, that looked like crap. Guess I did not build enough models as a kid.

Anyway - yes the steel does need to be thin under the edge of the wheel. However I think you could closely fit plastic around the wheel. Would have to be pretty rigid as the only mounting points are the two screws through column trim and with heavy guages they might vibrate

Yours four guage setup came out very well....... if only I could make it out of steel

I have always preferred the 911 instrumentation. It has a classic all business look and yes the gauges are mounted in steel. What is even funnier is cars are going back to this. Keep up the good work.

Just wondering if anyone has had success doing a mount like this with an airbag wheel? I was going to remove the airbag wheel in favor of a aftermarket but am still undecided. I have a bunch of gauges i need to mount in the car and i do not want to go with an a-pillar pod as i really dislike the obstruction and how visible they are outside of the car. What i was going to do is mount an EGT and a digital combo water/oil temp gauge from SPA under the radio in the DIN slot and probably the boost controller ****. And i was hoping to mount the Innovate wideband display and a boost gauge on the steering column. Im not worried about fabricating a bracket, but wondering if its possible to do with the different airbag wheel and column switches.

Quick Reply: gauge mount - steel :)
