gauge mount - steel :)
after anguishing about gauge mounting I have finally come up with a resolution I will be happy with. take a look
Should thank somebody for inspiration as I saw somebody (sorry don't remember who) mount guages in a similar manner.
1/8" steel. Thought it may be too thin, but it is plenty stout and will make for a very rigid mount.
only part of factory gauges not viewable as sitting in the car is the 0 on oil pressure, an the E on gas gauge. can see the needles, just not the number/letter
I am going to love it! Of course final will be blasted/etch primed/painted black.

Nice job, I really like the idea. Billthe3 did a single unit like that about a month ago. I'm thinking with my Momo wheel the gauges could be mounted even lower and not block the other gauges so much. The stock 4-spoke has too large of a center section IMO. I run a single boost gauge now and it's low enough to not be so invasive.

you know it had not occurred to me.......
I don't have a plazma cutter here so jigsaw/die grinder/bench grinder took almost a day to fit and refine and fit just right.
I could have a few made up .....
hmmmmm
the guage mounting has not been worked out yet..... may end up specific to AEM guages
Gauge "Pods" are 2 1/8" ID aluminized - works good fr AEM with larger bezel, probably OK for others.
I can scan and send via email maybe , then couldhave cut out ..
runnin out door, will take a look when I get back

Looks interesting. I take it the pods do not move with the steering wheel, then? Any clearance issues like having to avoid hitting the instruments with your hands when maneuvering?

clearance - With palm on wheel - at no position on the wheel can I touch guages with hand opening. I simulated changing hand positions all around guages - never can touch as long as the guages are tucked back.

Thanks guys! Is gonna be cool.
One snag is holding up the next phase -
mounted new race seat this weekend (corbeau FX1 pro). WAY TOO TALL > I cannot sit in car with helmet on - going to try sidemount, but don't even know if that will give enough clearance. May have to change seat selection.

To all who inquired about making a run of these for sale. I have checked with two local companies and unfortunately it will be cost prohibitive to have these cut unless I want hundreds/thousands.
For me to hand cut and fit these will take close to 4 hours. There is no way anybody can pay what would make it worth my while to produce these.
Progress has stalled, but hope to get back to it this weekend

That looks very slick! Much better than what I did this weekend. (Although I don't think mine is too bad... )
I used some lexan, then sanded the back and spray painted it.
Now... What to put in the extra hole...
