Check the plugs?
My car was a pig below 3K (especially in higher gears) ever since I put the new turbo on. I figured it was just the lag one has to put up with when they have a large turbo (it's a Vitesse stage 3).
Took it to the shop to get the ignition system tested, as well as fix a leak near the throttle body (TPS cap was coming off) and the car now runs a *lot* better. No more 30 secs of stumbling when going WOT at 2000 rpm in 4th, the car now accelerates immediately. 1 bar hits at ~3100 instead of ~3400. And I've started getting more wheelspin (or clutch slip?) which would seem to indicate a nice increase in power. That and the fact that my car started scaring me again! Maybe its just the cool winter air
I had to drive my brother's third gen rx-7 around a few weeks ago and it still a lot more sluggish at low revs that that, but it has the advantage of sequential turbos and I've got the disadvantage of a low-compression 944 engine. At least mine's faster on boost
