In regard to the Wiggins IC pipe clamps are they a V-band style clamp with welded on flanges? I noticed them on one of the pictures I posted too and am curious. TIA!

Just as a matter of interest and I can't see those wheels closely enough to know quite what's going on, but I was talking to one of the principal owners of Simmons wheels which are the leading race wheels down here, and I asked him about some local competition. He agreed that they looked good but he was concerned that on some of their wheels they didn't have rim bolts all the way around. Where the spoke joined the rim there was a break in the bolts and that is where the most force is transmitted at that part of the wheel. Especially with slicks on the track. Simmons also have a wheel that has the same appearance but they have a 'blind' bolt underneath the surface which takes care of that. I just noticed that those wheels look like they may be missing bolts at the same part of the rim? Maybe I can't see it clearly and maybe they too have some 'blind' bolts? Just passing on some info.

I heard something about hre's being banned from some sorts of racing because of failure on the track. Not sure what or why but...

That's exactly what the comment was about, TMS runs **** HRE wheels and I constantly make fun of him for it.

The're bolts behind the spokes threading into the center, I have a set of the same wheels. They are HRE 545s.

You only have a vague idea because there is no solid evidence out there. There was a rumor started on Audiworld, by some one who was not a end user of the wheels, he infact admits to having never seen the damaged wheels. There is no ban on HRE wheels even in Viper League Racing where the rumor was started about. It is because of people like MPD47 that this rumor continues. HRE makes racing wheels with history dating into the 70's.

You still have been unable to prove anything about HRE wheels being bad, I have proven that they are not banned anywhere. Could you describe what makes it a **** wheel? I don't get it, what is your motive to bash a wheel company so much? Give it up already.

Similar to a v-band. weld the flanged ends to the two pipes, o-rings go in the grooves, slide the sleeve over, clamp the purple clamp on, and presto! you ahve a massivly overkill clamp of doom! . we used these on our turbo FSAE car at UNCC. One of the nice features is they are super easy and fast to connect and disconnect. just squeeze the clamp locks and it pops off.
