As promised, I've attached this doc, I'll also post it in some other threads. I had to remove the last two pages of the wiring diag to make it fit.

Please let me know what you think.

I think the important pins to understand are pin 16 of the KLR and pin 31 on the DME.

i think this ab solutly conclusivly confirms that the the klr adds timing klr dissconected = 6 degree retard so it appears to receives the tigger signal t9 and if all is well it passes it back 6 dedrees advanced pin 16 . if we were to find continuity from pin 16 to 1 ?? so it does not advance dynamicly but makes a blanket advance that it can later take back 3 degree at a time. Also while considering the general thoery of ignightion systems and efi the klr having 2 ingnighton signal inputs implies it is perhaps sequencing the the ignighton and perhaps trimming ignightion off an indevidual cylender.other wise why does the klr need 2 ignightion signals . anything ever involed with ignightion only requirs one signal just like the coil gets . when a device requirs a "reference" signal that device is sequential .
one acception to the rule is the dme wich apparenly uses the reference while cranking only .
you have done some good research well done but were not out of woods yet

Yeah, I think you could be correct there... some other correspondence made mention of Road and Track doing a review of the car in '87 and said they described the 'Bosch individual cylinder knock control'. They said it retarded three degrees on the first knock, and three more if knocking continued.

So from Patrick's reference to your consumption of copious quantities of MB, can I assume you are a Melbournite?
I have had a bit of a look at the EMS as well as Wolf, MoTec, Haltec and some from the States... Autronic is on my list to call. Are your Wolf comments about the v400 or v500?

the wolf just lacks features the guys are as accomating as they can be, me and my mates cornered one of them once near the tafe dyno and quized him on all kinds of stuff years ago he failed to impress us in there defence i've herd several tuners say they are turned realy fast saving on dyno time. just if your going to the trouble of going new ecu it should do more than the old factory one since peaple like vettesie and such are able to hack the old motronic to bits and make it sing and dance

gt37vgt, you mentioned before you were going to scope the signals to see what's going on. Just wondering when you might be doing that. Please let me know what you find.

If you mean the Bosch Automotive Handbook - it's over 1200 pages - I have that... only just opened it. Is there something you want me to look up?
