I've been looking for a 944 turbo for a couple of months now. My budget is around 15,000 but I think I should be able to get a decent car for less then 10,000. I live in NNJ and there doesn't seem to be a lot of choices locally. I've considered a long distance purchase but not sure how to pull it off. Just to give everyone a complete picture I'm looking for a car to cruise around on weekends/autox/DE. I also like modding a bit nothing extreme but just to have some fun.
So here are my questions: What should expect year/mileage wise within my budget. How does one buy a car several thousand miles away. Do I just send a stranger 10,000 and hope they ship the car. Any advice, guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I picked up my 951 for 9800, with 85k miles, in pristine condition, and somehow managed to do this locally. just go on the craigslist frequently, and deals pop up there all the time, just you have to be the first one to see the deal come up.. otherwise, keep looking and good condtion car should be up for sale in/ around your area. Unless youve found the turbo god or something..i wouldnt recomend buying a car 2000 miles away. just my .2

I know of a red one close by, guards on black, bigger turbo, completly stock looking, perfect paint, but its way overpriced at about 15k. It has been sitting in a lot in greenwood lake NY for a while. Might be worth your look, probably not going to budge on the price to much though since its still there. Good luck.

I got my car long distance. Flew out with a round trip ticket and a cashier's check, liked what I saw so I drove it home, 1200 miles. The flight out was terrible. The drive home was a blast.

I did a similar thing and flew from Sydney to Adelaide with chq in hand. Liked the car, gave the chq, drove home 1600k's. Best test drive I've ever had. On the road for 10 hrs....do the math lol...

well, my car may fit your bill--it is under 10K, has 113K miles, all records, new Yokohama AVS, Fuchs and LSD--it is an 86 so there are no airbags, nor ABS and it has a tranny and oil cooler. I am in Pittsburgh and have a ton of pics.
If interested PM me.
