Let a friend borrow my car yesterday. Called me up and said, smell antifreeze and white smoke out of tail pipe. Anyway, what are the reccommendations. I had the motor rebuilt about 20,000 miles ago and he put a stock gasket in there. Dont want to drop a ton of money but I figured while I had the head off I might want to get some porting and polishing. What is the recommended gasket set up and anything I should do to the head while I have it out.
Thanks John.
By the way I am assuming that the gasket went because it was over 90F and he was in traffic and decided to get off and beat the **** out of the car. He said boost was about 20lbs. I have a dual stage boost controller and I assume it was put on high setting by accident. I usually run 15-17lbs.
Thanks John.

Hey John, i heard through the grape vine that you were thinking of selling the car?
I just got done doing a headgasket, took 4 days including a day to paint the stuff, no big deal. Throw a widefire on this time.

What's your air fuel ratio? 20psi with pump fuel? widefire gasket ain't nothing .
Bottom line tuning is the key issue.

I would go with what Cory9584 said as long as the sufaces are within tolerance for a metal head gasket and especially if the friend pays for it, which I think he should, or at least a good portion.

It had pump gas in it. I think that is why it blew. 20lbs I think is to much on pump. I am going to have the head ckecked out when I get the head off.

for the headgasket, I would go with wildfire and either stock or arp head studs. might as well send the head to machine shop and straighten it out. if you are opt using the mls head gasket, I would def. get the head straighten and use a copper spray on the gasket.
good luck man.
