Default FUEL PUMP

I just pulled my fuel pump and the terminals are leaking fuel...does this mean i need a new fuel pump or is there an alternative fix for cheaper..

do go cheap, just buy another one........safe is better then sorry later...Jeff

It's probably not the pump itself, but more likely either the check valve or its seal, or the rubber lines that connect to the pump. Clean and dry the area, and see if you can pin-point the leak, but on a 20 year old car, you would not be wasting money be replacing the rubber lines even if not the source.

Edit -- unless you mean the electrical connectors are leaking fuel!! If so, then perhaps a replacement pump is in order. Check the classified, etc. for a used one to save money.

Just read your other post confirming it is the electrical terminals leaking. Be sure to disconnect the battery before doing anything else -- don't want a spark when disconnecting the fuel-soaked electrical wires!! Lots of people upgrade to higher flow pumps, so I'm guessing there is an ample supply of good used pumps availble here on the list.
