Default short line finally blew

I went in my garage this morning and i was just about to move the car to get to a few things and i immediately smelled gas after starting it. The short line started leaking at the fitting where it pivots by the rail. I figured since my line was long enough i bypassed the damper for now so its not stuck in my garage. It feels alot more responsive for some reason without the damper. Is that normal or was my damper clogging up?

Hrm, i only know how the damper works in theory... shouldn't make any difference with the responsiveness. I don't suggest you drive it around normally with it off...

It goes on the fuel rail, it's to keep the fuel pressure from dipping in pressure due to fuel being shot out the injectors. Basically there's a Diaphram that i beleive fills up with fuel, if the pressure dips, the diaphram pushes out on the fuel thats in it which causes the fuel rail to have the right pressure, of course you need the actual source to keep flowing the fuel or else you'll run out.

it's simply a buffer or a capacitor in a sense

Im not sure but i bet that it'd cause the fuel rail to vibrate and due to the nature on how they work, you might cause a lean experiance at WOT.

I would imagine that the damper sort of regulates the fuel pressure somewhat, and without it, it's pumping at max pressure from the pump...causing more fuel intake sooner.

Watch out for cylinder wash =].

It still runs pretty good, makes a little noise but who cares about that. Id like to hear from people running without it to see if they made the same observations

I've had it made it at local hydrolic store for $50. ss braided line using the fittings from old line. I've always wondering about why it needs damper...

new jumper line is 80 bux at the dealer- ive bought three for various cars. Nine-44 is running with no fuel dampner and from what i hear it runs great for a few years now.
