Default Project update: Tec3r, Turbonetics 60-1 hifi T4, Big reds and more.

Here is link to my intro thread Link

A lot has changed on my car in since I last posted in this thread. I put big reds on up front, deleted the torsion bars and went up to 600lb springs. Had a tec3r installed by Scott Gomes. I also got a Turbonetics 60-1 hifi and Godzilla BOV fromTim at Speed Force Racing, it was great working with him as well. I also got a set of Fikse wheels as dedicated street wheels so that I could use the HREs as dedicated track wheels. The headlights were replaced with custom ones, link to thread

I put sfi padding on the cage so it would be safe with out a helmet and pulled the A/C and heater, all sound deadening and pulled the intirior wiring harness and stripped it down to just what was still being used. A gt racing carbon fiber dash went in with the stack display.

Still in the works befor my next track event in june is aero work, I am putting an ajustable Reenspeed wing on it. It is like the TRS wing but cheaper and more effective, it has a much larger spoiler on it about the size of the stock one with the wing sitting a little higher than the TRS. It looks a little better than the TRS one but I still don't like it that much this hatch will only go on for track days and the 924 one will be for street. The front AIR splitter is being replaced by a Gtracing one. They are both being painted gloss black.

Also the front struts are going to be revaled to escort cup specs, escort cup rears and firehawk fronts are an awful combo. Then Scott Gomes is going to corner balance and align it. At that point it should be just about done....for now.

I went to the dyno yesterday and when the charts are emailed to me I will post them.

Your setup is alot like what i have planned. Atleast the ems, and 60-1 T4. What did you do to trigger the tec3r?

You got Fikse's as street wheels and HRE's as track wheels? WTF?

HRE's are known as a fool's fashion on the track...

Engine looks good, any numbers?

I can tell you from having both sets of wheels and knowing the materials used for each, thier quality is the same, finish on the HREs is better. Most people with any experience will tell you the same. The HREs do not have a reverse drop lip so they really are just as well suited to the track as the fikse wheels. If you want to point me towards hard evidence as why HREs are so bad I am interested to read it. From first hand experience they work great on the track and I see no benefit to using the Fikse wheels on the track. If you want to say the HRE wheels are more expensive, both sets of wheels are exactly the same size and I paid more for the Fikse wheels.

Here are pics of the wing I forgot to post earlier.

Yes I know the numbers from the dyno yesterday, but I am waiting for charts from scott. When I get them I will start a new thread and have NZ951 put me on "the list". Until then I don't feel like saying what they are with out being able to show the power curve.

Do a search in the GT3 forum, or on Viper Alley or Audi World and see how many organizations have banned HRE's. It'll be an eye opener atleast.

You didn't really read these threads very well first off they are not banned. The search I just did on rennlist came up with a few pics of cracked Fikse wheels, a completely trached kinesis, no bad hre wheels. There was a thread closed by a mod because of "bad info" of a good product and no technical info showing bad wheels. It comes down to this, you want to believe the HREs are bad and no matter what will not think other wise.

I don't think one is better than the other, I will continue to run the HREs on the track bcause my r-compound tires are on them. But please when you have personal experience with HREs failing I would love to hear about it, but please keep the crap you read on the internet that has no basis to yourself, it does nothing but spread misinformation.

If you do a search on rennlist threads will come up that you knock HRE wheels on and people might believe you. They might be mistakenin thinking you speak from experience, we both know you have none.

I wont have experience, because I wont waste my money on overpriced, weak wheels.

All of the links you post go back to the Audiworld one, which is bs. The kid says they are banned in imsa, then says they are not.

Here is a link to the viper racing league rules, scroll down to 3 wheels and tires, where it says choice of wheels is open. And if anything VRL is biased because of forgeline being a sponser.

You base your whole argument off of one post by one kid who did not own the wheels or see them, he was going off of what he heard. You should read through the whole rennlist thread it is quite informative.

But like I said befor nothing will change your mind, you want to believe they are bad.

For the record on one of the forums Brian Bailey - an Porsche 951 racer I recognized from Rennlist - comments on the HRE wheels and says he spoke directly with HRE and they were going to look into the rumour that was being spread. He made the comment that any wheel can fail without proper inspection and it appeared that many people agreed with him.

TMS, interesting wing where did you get it from? What made you choose this instead of just a wing with uprights going through the hatch to the frame? Just wondering

The problem I had been having was finding a decent wing that works with a glas hatch and attached to it. I did not want lexan and did not want it permantly attached to the frame/body. I found Rennspeed link the other day and ordered it up. With it attached to my 951 hatch I can till put back on my 924 one when I want a cleaner look.

I figured that must have been the motivation, IMHO it looks pretty cool and I can't wait to see it in paint on your car. I'm glad there is someone else out there with the aero/body modding/cosmetics sickness BTW where did you source your LED signals?
