Speaking of 16v, what were the final results from you 3.1l 16v on the dyno Chris? I only remember the initial dyno thread from a few years back where you had a dry sump pump issue.

Cam swaps are not much fun on an 8v but with the 16v you can swap out cams while the engine is still on the dyno (the twin cam drive helps too – cam change in under 10 minutes)
Like I said, no problem, agree to dis agree. I would just profile the cam for its use, intake/exhaust manifold designs and then grind a new and test from there.

The real answer is that I need to sign up for some therapy! I have an issue with getting carried away and maybe taking things too far. Thankfully this is my own project so I can take my time on it!

Here is a clue as to the path that the engine is following….hopefully a winter build if I can finish up this part of the project:

Close the deck? How about dig a hole, throw this whole design in it and pretend it never happened.

Looks like a point clould scan - is there a bolt broken off in the engine mount?

My project is just about ready for production, lots of changes to fix problems that have bugged me for years.

No broken bolt, check your glasses

It is the best way to caputure detail. Overlay it with the actual model and you can work on wall thickness. Otherwise, you will have 3" thick walls for no reason.

IMHO, To build a billet version of the stock block, even with mods(and I don't even need to know them) is the biggest waste of money I can ever think of.. but, what ever floats your boat. The original design of the block/head combo is horrible for big HP and that is the end of it. No smoke and mirrors, nothing. Waste of time.

I hope you drew a head with HG, bolted it to the block and stressed the hell out of it before you buy a $4K block of tin cans..

so the first doom car was a 3.6 968 based engine? was it a stock block or billet? it looks like his 4,000hp drag car is a billet copy of a 944/968 block...

it seems some people say that the first doom was a 911 engine then the rest of the doom cars were 968....

can anyone confirm?
