if your tps is defective, it could idle high and run lean in all cylinders. you can check it fairly easily with a multimeter.

Check the injector pulse to make sure one of the injectors isnt staying on. You can make a tool to do this from a lightbulb or test light. Are there any signs there was a fire that melted the injectors at one point? Or was severely overheated?

the tps in virtually all bosch fi systems lets the computer/dme know if you're idling/emissions, or accelerating or decelerating.

if it's unplugged, the vehicle still runs but doesn't accelerate as well, assuming it's adjusted properly and tested with an ohm meter for opening/closing, the clicking.

It seems like the TPS is worth swapping, I'll have to wait until I have the car in my own garage.

i don't think it's the lean/burnt problem.

it sounds like the car got real hot before you got it.

Are the plug wires near the injectors? I bought a noid light for ten bucks, it would show if everything up to the injector is working.

It makes no difference when the 02 sensor is disconnected.

How many km on this car?

Try unplugging the Airflow Sensor (AFM), cleaning the plug contacts, and reconnecting.

229000 km's.

My plan is to swap parts with another 85 951 until I found the error. Unless the compression test tells me something I don't want to know..

That's about 143K miles. This car's been around, for a Euro car! Let us know what you find.

First thing to swap out is the DME. The only way I can think of injectors frying is if the peak&hold injector circuit is shot and it is holding full current for the duration of the injection.

Anders, I had a similar problem when my wiring harness was junk. Cut back the boots on a few of the injector connectors and see if they are shorting out. I burned up one set of injectors and couldnt the car running correctly and that was found to be the culprit.
