I am not in market, but for those that are - will likely want to know basic info:
year
mileage
what is included (just longblock, flywheel, everything intake turbo, etc, etc)
When last belt/WP/front seal service, etc.
Any other pertinant info rod bearings ever serviced, etc.

Also pics are always a good idea

1986 944 Turbo
130k Miles
No service History- It appears to have been maintained.. The story of the car was that it was in a shop and the person who previously owned it could not come up with the money... The car was inpounded or something and then it ended up in the junk yard where I bought it. The guy claims this was one of like 150 cars he bought in a bundle ar one of those car auctions that only people with special licenses can go to who own salvage yards and such. The car has excellent compression number.. a White Coolant reservoir.. the belts looked fairly new.. The waterpump looked new..But thats all a guess. Nothing could have been done to it.. or it could have just had an entire rebuild.. I really dont know. I do know that it runs good.

Id like to get 2500 for everything minus the DME/KLR
Ill throw those in there for another 500 since its from an 86.. hard to come by.

thanks,
keith

Not to rain on your parade or anything but last year I bought two motors: one with 50k miles on it and one with 80k miles on it, both were bought for 1500.

what came with the engine you bought for 1500? What were the compression numbers? Any other info you can give me before I decide to drop the price. I see engines going on ebay for 2000-2500, with compression numbers in the 130's and such.

thanks,

Another guy is selling an engine from an 88 with 160k miles for 1500 as well. It comes with pretty much everything as well. Maybe you should come down a little more. Just trying to help you move it a little quicker!

Yeah, I'm only trying to help you out here. The motors I got were oil pan to cam tower. No crossover, no turbo, no intake manifold. But I did get the wiring harness. If someone were replacing a motor I don't see why they would need any of hose extras anyways, they could just pull them off their other motor. So I don't see too much value in them. I didn't get any compression numbers but I can tell you that in both engines the clyinder walls were MINT.

Paid $1500 for complete engine from an 89 oil pan to intake. Included turbo, crossover, manifolds, harness.

I don't believe in compression tests. The numbers can fool you due to the check valve in the guage that is necessary to maintain a guage reading. Leakdown numbers are a true testiment to the mechanical condition of the engine. I have seen good compression numbers on an engine with 20%+ differential in leakdown between cylinders.

How about if any one is interested they contact me then we can discuss a price. Yes his engine is 1500 but it also has 30k more miles.. and yes the two you bought for 1500 but they were stripped of lots of things. Price is negoitiable.. contact me if interested.

thanks,
keith
