and what could be the consequences if it seized? (I can imagine it wouldn't be pretty...)
Anyway, I knew the clutch wasn't going to last forever, I was just hoping it'd last at least a week after I got the car back on the road after the turbo replacement...
Today, it started making noise... the sound changed whether I was on or off the clutch pedal... it's not squeeking, it's a kind of grinding/whirring noise, gets higher pitch when the clutch pedal is depressed.
so, I figure while I'm in there, I'll just go on ahead and replace the clutch... because it'd be dumb not to...
UGH. why must all the expensive/time consuming parts go all at the same time?!
also, can the OEM pressure plate be reused?

My dad had his t/o bearing start doing this exact thing in his 944na a few years ago. We drove it like that for about a month or two, if either one of us drove it we would always put it in neautral at red lights to stretch its life a little longer. Finally one day my mom had to borrow the car
and it let go. The clutch pedal just wouldn't go down anymore if I remember correctly.

oh goody. Well, time to dive back into the world of Porsche induced poverty...

can't say I didn't see this coming though, we have put 12,000 miles on it since we got the car a while ago (back when it was dad's) and the PPI said that a clutch should be expected in the near future...
and lately, the pedal has had varying degrees of resistance... and 2nd gear has been a little less fluid... I suppose if the bearing has been dying, it'd cause those issues... but still, less than a week after a turbo replacement?! agh!
cup clutch time!!!
