try not to get water back by the clutch. I just did this and the flywheel rusted to the point it wouldent release from the clutch making it impossible to go into gear.

castrol Super Clean works well in the engine bay. I would avoid using cans and can of brake/carb cleaner in the engine bay and stick to a non petroleum solvent. Remember, some solvents work well on metals, others on plastics and others on paint. Another option is to take it to a detail shop and have it steam cleaned. It does not cost much and the results are perfect. just tell them where not to clean. In fact, I think it is well worth the $30-40 to have the under carriage cleaned before doing a motor, clutch or trans. I have an appointment to have the bottom of my Chevelle cleaned on Wednesday.

I had the underbody steamed cleand and it was wonderful for my rebuild. I would adivse against having the engine bay steam cleaned, because the solvent in the steam was to harsh for the aluminum.

just ask if they can use water only. You would be surprised how well it works at high temp and pressure.

I recently cleaned my engine bay and I used a marine aluminum cleaner. I had the intake powder coated and some other parts including the fuel rail zinc coated but I haven't installed those yet.
