Default Misfire Problem Out Of Nowhere??

Ok. Got my car running with a new clutch with the help of sharky47(dan) and as I was driving home and deceling from about 4k and the car started to misfire... I thought the car died but I was able to give it a little gas to limp off the road and turn. I shut the car off and turned it right back on... was still misfiring and running horribly. Waited about 5 mins and turned it back. Everything was fine and drove home the rest of the hour or so with no problems. Drove the car today for a little bit with no problems either.

Dan was saying it could be the Lindsey Racing Ignition Wires.... I did a search but couldnt find any posts about it. What do you guys think?? Anyone know of a post about the wires/or what words to search. Tried Lindsey wires, misfire, stumble etc etc.

Any other suggestions?? Can I get some Magnacore wires to work with resistant(non-resistant) spark plugs. I forgot which spark plugs I have to work with the lindsey wires.

99% sure that the LR wires were the culprit causing my track car to misfire. They do not fit the plugs tight enough.

^^^^^^^^

Exactly what I was thinkin as I was installing them - felt like they weren't positvely engaging. Normally I love Lindsey stuff, this was very dissapointing........

If it's the plug wires, Magnecore's are cheap and excellent quality but you have to be careful not to be too rough with the plug ends or they can rip. Have you checked your plugs? When did you experience misfiring, throughout the entire rpm band, or just under boost? It's possible the plugs could be gapped too wide or worn out if you haven't already replaced them. What about the dist. cap/rotor? I don't remember all the stuff you replaced but, in my experience, every time I've ever had a misfire with my 951, it always boiled down to some sort of ignition system issue (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, or coil).

Almost forgot, what kind of plugs are you running? I'd stick to typical copper plugs if you aren't already. These cars don't really have the greatest ignition system in stock form, and in my experience, if the entire ignition system isn't in perfect condition then they really don't seem to want to work too well with platinum plugs, if by chance you happened to be using some platinum ones. I've seen a few people post on Rennlist about using platinum plugs just fine but, the few times I've tried them before replacing every component in my ignition system, all the platinum plugs I tried only resulted in misfiring. Anyways, just some thoughts.

I'm not too sure about using non-stock plug wires with resistor plugs. Personally, I would just switch to Magencore wires and some typical non-resistor copper plugs if you do determine that the wires are the culprit. Autozone or OReilly's usually seem to have either Bosch, NGK, Champion, or Autolite coppers in stock for 944's at most high-traffic locations.

I installed new cap/rotor/recommended plugs from Lindsey.

After doing a clutch job, I had trouble with the engine ground being loose.

My car is misfiring and after some looking it turned out to be the plug wire to cylinder #1. The plug wires are only 1 year old and were bought from Lindsey as part of their "performance" sets. I'm not too impressed with them that is for sure and will be buying a stock set to replace them.

See, that is the same story I keep hearing from people.

I think it is time for some magnacores.

Do they make magnacores for both resistant and non resistant spark plugs is the question now??

I just bought a set of Magnacores from John at VR. Good price and fast shipping. The LR wires are in the trash. As Daniel said it's a shame LR stuff is normally very nice and works well.

They are only designed for non-resistor plugs.
