Tony!

Nice to see you mate. Ummm I am not sure if I had the new turbo on here or not? Went to a full Garrett turine and housing Added some DOT rated slicks and did some track time... thats about it I think.

Christchurch represent yo!

As far as I recall you were still waiting for the turbo, how was it? easy enough to fit? and eager to spin - any dynos?
A 951 on slicks at the track is sweet! gone back to road legal track rubber myself, found slicks wore the wheel bearings and brakes too fast.

Well I started off with the SFR stage 3, then I dumped the replica #8 housing and went to a Garrett housing with .63 A/R machined for the stage 3 wheel (stage 3 wheel does not relate to Tim's turbo names incidently) and just changed the flanges. All I can say is that the torque curve was a LOT better, the max HP didnt increase much (though didnt push boost much past 22psi). It felt significantly quicker with the Garrett housing over the replica KKK one. For the Supra I will be going for an HKS or Garrett ball bearing turbo/s, and dont think I would ever use anything else unless cost comes into it, I have seen dozens of cars on the dyno with full spec Garrett ball bearing turbos on SR20's, RB20/26/30's, 13B's, 4G63 (even one making 1450WHP), 2JZGTE, 3SGTE etc making awesome power and response with them, hard to deny. In the 944, well there is ease of installation and size considerations thats come into it, (dont take this the wrong way as I know it doesnt describe everyone here at all), most people over that side of the world seem to prefer bolt on priducts that have the hassle engineered out of them, where people this side tend to use number 8 wire to rangi something up as we dont have the kind of expertise here to provide those services and transporting them here is expensive!

They are Performance Springs, they are an Aussie company I think. For 32 of them is cost me NZD250 landed. About USD190? Something like that.

Hey Andrew - great to see you've got a track car - what series are you racing in?

I didn't get to Ruapuna for Bridgestone this season but we'll see what we can manage for the coming season.

The turboS is in semi-retirement now we've got the 968.

George
