Default I'm still confused about updating an 86 oil pan baffle

I know about the Lindsey baffle and will add that to my car. I have searched but can't find a concise answer. Can I remove the baffle from my 86 pan and add a later one such as an 89S. will I need to do anything else? Can I use the 86 dipstick. I am not changing the pan to a different year i am still using the 86 pan.

Yes you can add the later baffle w/o modifications or other parts. A good idea to do it, if you have the pan off. But not sure if there is an added benefit of the later baffle, if you are adding the Lindsey upgrade (?).

Why is the later baffle better?

It incorporates a partial crank scraper, made to work with the partial crank scraper welded to the inside of the late-model oil pans. I have some photos at home which I can post later.

'86 951 oil pan:

'89 oil pan. Notice the "crank scraper" extending from the plastic baffle to the raise aluminum fin.

Updating your pan baffle would get you half of the "crank scraper" to help reduce windage.
