Interesting old thread - came across it while on a search for 951/952 VIN ranges for various years, researching RHD cars.
Given how helpful it was, I thought I'd give some info
Car number 150103 (VIN pictured earlier in this thread) was made for Puerto Rica market - has country code C04.
It is not one of the 40 Canadian (country code C36) cars made - although that number 40 is correct as far as I can tell.
The 47, less the 41 accounted for leaves 6 which Doug suspected were for European delivery.
These 6 VIN's all have country codes of either C02 or C03, which is US market:
WP0AC2950LN150001
WP0AC2952LN150002
WP0AC2956LN150004
WP0AC295XLN150006
WP0AC2953LN150102
WP0AC2954LN150125
Whether these cars made it into the US or not however I don't know - its pretty common for US-market cars to end up sold in Japan (at least judging by the 928 market), so not sure whether these VIN's ever made it into the US. Someone with carfax might be able to tell, assuming they were road registered.
Anyway - this as just an incidental sideline in my research for RHD.

Car number 50103 was lisited on ebay two years ago It was in Pueto Rico, $35,000.00 It was a Canadain car, a few modes, the odometer was now in MPH, so there car was cleared in the US by DOT and US customs so the Odometer was swapped out as was and is law. The 1990s only had KMP on the gauge.

Fred Adamczk: " Porsche AG has informed PCNA that a total of 40 (forty) 944 turbos were exported to Canada for the 1990 model year)."
I beleive a few (7) were for eropean delivery, weather they were picked up is unknow. THe Price was so high, the 1992 968 was $30,000 less.

That is, if this 1990 car had been spec'ed for a RoW destination, the VIN would not be WP0AC2955LN150103, but rather WP0ZZZ95ZLN150103.
AFAIK, only PCNA cars put codes (e.g., AC2 above) and check numbers (5 in the 9th digit) in place of the Zs the Porsche VINs.
At any rate, judging by the 95 in the 7th and 8th digits, plus the 1 in the 12th, this is clearly a factory built 951. The letter L stands for model year 1990.

The 1990 951s 47 made and 40 delevered to Canada. I have a fax from PCNA confirming. A few other items on the CDN cars. the rear hatch key is ~ not ! like other cars. The truck has two cut outs and welded in place nuts for factory child seat anchors. Kit came in a bag. Many including parade think it is for a roll bar attachment. Cas had KPH only no MPH on the gauge. mine has a sticker under the hood stating it is also california exempt for emmisions OBD.
Many were turned right into track cars and more difficult to find. At last count i had about 23 found but have not kept up lately.

Anyone have any idea how many 1986 951's were shipped to Canada. All the numbers I see say US and ROW. I know '86 was the biggest year numbers wise, just wanted to know how many came to Canada in 1986.

I have car #43 of the 47 1990 Turbos made for US and Canada. No Cars were shipped to the US market. Porsche was almost broke and the Mark was very high. My car was $71,000.00 paid at the Dealer.(1990)
40 cars came to Canada, one sat in the dealer show room in Toronto for two years before it was exported back to Austria. There is or was one in Puerto Rico.
I have located 18 of them. Chris has the one sent to Austria now.
i have the factory world production numbers and a letter confiming the build.
Parts numbers did not show up in the US dealers for these cars. (They do not exist.

Note that Wikipedia's data is incorrect. Total 1990 model year 944 Turbo production numbers shown on their site indicate 144 were made for North America, with 44 delivered in Canada. That's wrong. None at all were delivered in the USA for the 1990 model year, for starters.
