Default "Gizzmo of the day"

Check out www.woot.com for an interesting gizzmo. I actually orderd a couple - one for the street car and one for the track car.
I looked at some of these a while back - when they were $400. This looks pretty neat.
The 'serious' track car will get a datalogable tire pressure/temp system.

Chris White

PS - Woot.com is a one day only deal - at midnight a new item will go up and the tire pressure montior will be gone forever.

How accurate are they? My Expedition came with a similar setup from the factory.

Does it read pressure and temp on each wheel?
The system on my Titan just reports low pressure not actual pressure.
The real time temp/pressure could be a useful suspension tuning tool on the track...

The Woot site always has great product write ups, good for a daily laugh. Check out the 'pod cast' for some interesting stuff...!

i had something similar (different brand), it was pretty accurate and gave pressure per tire. but the stupid sensors kept breaking so i just dumped it after a while.

Chris, you are correct, the Expedition just gives a HI/LO pressure warning. I just oredered me 2 of these units, let's see how long it'll take to install them!

Hi Shaheed, I hope these units will not fall apart quickly. If they are reliable, they will be used on the track car.

How does it install on the wheel? Do you drill and tap a hole?

Looks like it replaces your current valve stems.

I dont know that i would want it on the outside of my wheels. I wonder if they would fit inside the wheel if you drill a hole?

The sensors replace the valve stems. The black box sensor is inside the wheel. All you see on the outside is the valve stem just as you would on any wheel.

That's pretty darn cool. I'll watch and see how they work out for you guys, it'll still be a while before my track car breathes anyway...

Thanks for the post Chris.

Just remember - the woot deal only lasts for one day, the 'street' price is around $250
