Question Re: SFR Adapter kit for Tial 38mm
Just bought a new Tial 38 for my '88 951 and also got the SFR adapter plates.
I was wondering if they changed their plates, because my plates are perfectly flat with no recess for connecting the plate to the flange at the tube that leads out to the cat pipe. The flange for the dump tube is flat so I don't see a problem with that.
Here is the pic from SFR's website:
Again, my plate doesn't look like this, it is perfectly flat on both sides. Also looking through previous posts, I found a picture from a fellow Rennlister that has the SFR plate installed on the cat pipe flange:
Clearly the SFR plate is not flush to the cat pipe flange - there is a gap because of the raised ring that is on that flange.
Question - is it OK to install it this way? The ring gasket in the flange will not make contact with the adapter plate, is it going to seal properly like this or will there be a leak?
Thanks in advance for any advice on this.
