Huntley is a joke. It's petty much a known fact. Don't let the opinions here get to you. Especially Lart's. He jokes a lot and sometimes pushes things to far (like when he sent me an email calling my girlfriend a prostitute, and more, which I saved, and never got an apology for). You just blow it off...for the time being. Most everyone on here are great.

I got some flack for spending so much with David Raines at Powerhaus but I got a warranty and a hell of a motor. A lot of Powerhaus' business was fixing Huntley cars. AMW motors are always on the podiums along with Powerhaus and motors from Scott Gomes. I have to say though that Chris White on these boards really does some good work and he builds some great motors too. If I did it over again, I'd probable go with Chris or Scott dependig on price. So Chris. lol. Good luck with your motor. We'd all like to hear more about it as the project progresses. What kind of power are you going for?

'Huntley' (aka Derek Khajavi) is restoring old Series Land Rovers now in South America.
As for AMW, I hope everything works out for the best--whatever that may be.

You have no idea how much I have spent with Anderson Motorworks and the problems I have had, yet you call B.S. on me?

I was only trying to be informative, afterall it is the "Anderson Motorworks" thread. If you dont want any negativity on this topic, perhaps you should have chosen a different thread topic?

One thing is for certain, I would not want anyone else going through the same issues (any issues actually) that I have experienced with Anderson Motorworks or John Anderson. If I were seeking the same information, I would appreciate any feedback from others...... good or bad. If you dont realize that I am trying to help, thats ok. I just dont think you have suitable information to label John "Mr. 951" as you have in your other post. Maybe John can come back to Rennlist and tell us about the quality of his work?

As long as you are happy, that is all that matters.

As far as removing the MAF for smog checks. Yeah it can be done, probably take less than an hour to switch it back to stock, as long as everything else is stock. I know of one guy that swaps his whole engine in his Corvette for smog checks. If you have changed injectors, turbos, etc. then switching back to the AFM and stock chips, your car won't run right and probably won't pass smog either, so you'll have to put those other things back to stock for the test also, or buy a set of AFM chips programmed for your upgrades.

"In your opinion." Opinions are like ********, everyone has one. GL with your project, seems like you have been warned though.

Onthegas, thank you for your feedback. I understand now that you are just trying to help me, but when you make a claim like the one in your first reply, it sounded more like bashing. And the whole lawsuit thing, not cool. If there is one thing that I have learned here so far, it's that I, and everyone here has to be very careful about what we say and how. I would like to hear what happened, really. Not just the part where you are angry for I dont know what. And I appreciate all the feedback, yes even lart. Seriously, I thought this thread was dead like a 3 weeks ago, and I didnt get much response or explanation, just to do a search for threads that have been deleted long ago. And yes, I found some, but not a lot. Thank you for your support. I know you had some problems with him Sam, but from your comment the only thing I can tell you is that we are all ******** then, thanks. If you can let me know I would appreciate it.

Thanks a lot Apex, that is the kind of stuff I want to know ahead of time. So, do I have to buy a chip programmed for the AFM and MAF? If so, then .
I might need your input very soon on this matter. Thanks for all your input guys., This is how I feel for the guy with the corvette
Dfastest, lart should apologize to you for that, not nice. My power goal is around 360 rwhp. Its not dfastest, but it will satify me. I will keep you guys posted and show some pics of what will go on soon. Thanks again.

Not sure what you mean about a chip for the MAF and AFM. If you go with a MAF, you will need MAF chips which should come with the MAF. If you stay with the AFM you will need AFM chips if you want to add power. You can switch from MAF back to AFM with stock chips if you don't change turbos or injectors, of course you won't make 360whp with the stock turbo. I do think the stealth MAF will support that HP but you may want to check with the suppliers to be sure.

Has Anderson Motorsworks told you exactly what mods they plan to perform? 360rwhp is VERY easy to achieve on a 951 with your basic bolt-ons.

Yes John and I did discuss it, I will supply you with the whole list. Apex, sorry to confuse the situation, but you already answered my question, seeing as how I have not posted pics of what I have. Stage 1 turbo, headers, etc. The nitehawk now has many smog questions on his mind. I will post pics tonight or tomorrow. Now, its off to poker night in my stylish maxima on a friday night. Joy. Thanks.

The whole ordeal with John, Tim and myself just did not work out as we all wished it had..... nuff said

I truly hope things work out for you, give my best to John.

Default Anderson Motorworks

nitehawk951, if you want information regarding my experiences with John Anderson and Anderson Motorworks I would be happy to share. I have to side with the others here that feel quality is far less than what can be expected from a Porsche specialist (perhaps the reason John no longer posts here as a prior post indicates). My 951 remians parked thanks to John, and there are many issues that are unresolved. Never once did he follow through with promises he made with me. One instance (posted previously), my oil pan gasket blew within a week of getting my car back following the rebuild. Since John was busy and this was my daily driver, I had to get it repaired. I conversed with Johm, and he agreed to pay for the repair of the gasket. To this day, he has never followed through with his promise both verbal and written. That may shed some light on what John is all about.

Since my issue was never resolved, I feel compelled to share more of the nightmare with others on Rennlist. Sorry to hear you chose Anderson Motorworks, as there are some quality mechanics that you could have chose in the San Diego area.

I am going through the process of another rebuild with my motor and will gather details as to what parts were missing etc. I can tell you that my OEM Idle control valve that was on my car was never put back onto my car from the previous rebuild from Anderson Motorworks. In addition, my hood release was left on the floor of my car (still sits there today just as John left it) which may give you an indication of their attention to detail. He kept my car in his shop for a couple weeks and had time to drive it from work to home and back (some 200 miles that were not authorized), but never had time to hook up my hood latch. This is odd behavior, and there is no excuse for it.

Just make sure you look over everything when you get your car back. If it doesnt run right, good luck. My personal experience was horrible and no resolution was made. Anderson Motorworks to this day states they warranty their race motors. In my experience, they dont even warranty a stock rebuild.

May the force be with you.

Thanks B Hayes, for your story and tips. I WILL definately look over everything I have him do. I feel bad those that had a bad experience with him. No, I dont think I would question his skill or ability as a mechanic, IMO well, you know what it is. But one thing is for sure. John does have a communication barrier he needs to overcome. It does take time to get in touch with the guy, I'll definately say that.

I will keep you guys posted on progress. I hope the force will be with me. But if there are any others who would like to add their experience I would like to read them. Thank you.

One of the things that brought Danno down besides the obvious stuff. He had Anderson build him a motor that cost him a bunch of money. He drove it one block, Anderson left out an oil seal. the car unbeknownst to Danno lost all the oil as he was test driving it around the block. I know as I helped him install the motor. The motor self destructed on that test drive.
