I actually don't mind the Z4s aesthetically, especially compared to the other Bangle style-less wonders out there. IMO, S2000s are good for autox, and that's about it. Not much interior styling or character to speak of, and the lack of torque is truly disappointing.

The Z4 has the most grunt down low and I found it quite comfortable when I test drove one. But, the styling of the boxster is hard to beat...so long as it's an S. On the other hand, the Bmmer will be by far easier to work on than a 986. There really are no DIY quickies on a boxster...

I don't mind the looks of the Z4, especially since when your driving it all you see is the hood and the dash. I usually don't buy a car based on what it looks like. Also, the Z4 has a little more room, and if he got an '04 it should still have all maintainence covered for another year.
