I have yet to see a Leda or Moton shock of any kind that was worth the money they cost to purchase. This is on a shock dyno BTW. The "adjustments" are a mix between vague and all over the map. I would either buy JRZ or stick to having the Bilstein's revalved.

I run the **** of the Bilstein Escorts on the track. And they work well. But they are a compromise. You can't adjust them. So that means you're stuck with whatever the valving is. And the problem is that some tracks you don't have to "jump the apex" and some you do. That difference in track design shows the limits of a fixed non-adjustable shock.... and that costs me probably a second per lap on certain tracks. And while I could valve for that track, then it would be slightly off of the other track, and vice versa.

So there is merit to having the ability to adjust. Are they worth the big money? Hey... speed costs money... how fast do you want to go?

In my opinion, for the money, the Bilstein Escorts do a good job, are durable, and are 95% as fast as anything out there.

The funny part to me is, unless you have the shocks dyno'd, what is the difference between setting 1 and setting 7? 99% of people don't know and they just turn the dials with no idea how it is affecting the shock if at all.

But then if they got them dyno'd, they would realize that most are crap.

I agree with Tony. Go with the easy set up.

Tony, what front valving are you running and whats' your front/rear spring rates?

Duke- hey man- hope all is well- can't speak for Tony, although from memory of 3 or 4yrs ago, he was running 250lb front springs & I WANT to say somewhere in the 500lb rear w/out T-bars (the reason for the holes in the side of his car at the time)- an innovative way to remove them, actually. As for valving- I have no idea, but always wanted to ask him, so hopefully he'll reply here. I do know what stock valving is & I know what's been recomended to me- both below...


Stock Firehawks are:
Front: 380/150
Rear: 400/200

Stock Escorts are:
Front: 600/190.
Rear: 565/218.

I've been told by people who work for Bilstein that the Firehawks need 400+lb springs & Escorts need 600+lb. This sounds a bit off. Most people have said to run 250-300lb for Firehawk & 400-600 for Escort- this makes me wonder about Tony's valving.

Cervelli always recommended (for my street car) Firehawks w/275lb springs & 30mm T-bars, but he liked his cars a bit more tail-happy than most.

Send me some pics of that Rainforest beauty... I've been waiting for YEARS!!! :-)

Perhaps it's just good marketing but I've read plenty of people's positive appraisal of the Moton Clubsports. I have KW 2 way race and they're great. Only problem is for a road/track car they don't have remote reservoirs which is an inconvenience. I decided to buy some Clubsports for a dedicated trackcar project for this reason. Plus at $3k for a new set it was hard to pass up a bargain.

I run custom valved Escout Cups to match the car weight, spring rate, and the rest of my suspension on a PCA stock E class S2. I have no problem in most tracks. I chose non-adjustable shocks because I did not have the experience to mess with the shocks. IMO, most club level racers do not know enough to take full advantage of adjustable shocks and those who know have spent time with a pro or very experinced coach to learn set up.
