Default Re-valve BILSTEIN's Or MOTON CLUBSPORT

I have a dilema....... I am not happy with my Bilstein Escort Cup coilovers.... more specificly the rear bieng too stiff. The fronts are valved the "street/track" setup of 380/150 which are fine, the rear valving is 565/218 which is too stiff. So my question is should I revalve the rear to the 380/150, or should I sell the set and just go with the MOTON CLUBSPORTS? I am not opposed to spending the extra cash to GET IT RIGHT, but dont want to if it is not nessacary. let me reiterate, I JUST WANT THE BEST PERFORMING SETUP. 70% street 30%track on harsh northeast roads.

Best performing setup would be Motons, KW's, Leda's, but it sounds as if it would be easier and much cheaper to get the Billy's revalved.

bilstein U.S. can revalve them for you. Unless you are racing...as in seriously racing...you really don't need the adjustability that would come along with the p[rice tag of the Motons. I run Bilstein Exscort Cups at full damp/rebound and have ZERO need for adjustment for a strictly street set up. The are stiff, but I feel that they are perfect. I know what types of road serface to either avoid or manage and have nothing but great things to say about my set up. If I wanted to go to the track I might go up 100 lbs rear spreing and about 250 front. That's all I would do.
ps I'm not running t-bars.
pss re-read your post. Just get your rears revalved. make sure the springs match.

ehall, What valving do you have? I dont have T-bars either, and run 450 front springs, and 550 rear.... And you live in CA right?

I have exactly the same problem as you. Except I am going to have the fronts revalved stiffer. For now I don't need the Motons, but the car really needs to be better balanced.

Nope. I live in Fla. I have the full cup valving. IIRC that's 650/380 front and 565/280 rear. I run 550 rear hypercoils and 350 fronts. The only real problem is on bridges, of which we have MANY. The jooints will make the car bounce. That's from the front spring mismatch. That's also the reason I suggested matching springs and valving.
I haven't driven up north in a long time. I figure you have many more pot holes than we do.
I REALLY like the "feel" I get. I despise mushy suspension. If I were to go to the track I would match springs up front and maybe add 100 lbs worth of spring rear. I prefer oversteer. I find it faster and easier to control as long as you drive with lite hands....which I do.

Yeah, I dont NEED the MOTONS, I want them....lol... And yes our roads are much harsher than Floridas, the bridges are what scares me the most too. At moderatly high speeds whan I go over the expansion joints, and the car is in any type of turn, the rear wants to skip out.....this is very unsettling.

This bump skip is a thing of the past with my KW's or some of the newer products that have sophisticated valving. From what I understand the Bilsteins and some other brands will have one setting that you're on at any given time and it behaves at whatever that setting is. The KW's have a high speed bypass valve that allow you to have a good setup for fast road and track but when you hit bumps, corrugations, or kerbs it releases pressure instantly and doesn't upset your traction. It is truly the best of both worlds.

The KW's would probably be a great setup for me, the only problem I have with them is the same as anyone else in the states..... lack of support.

What do you mean ??
KW dealers USA
And there is probably no problem in shipping the kw`s to Germany or Uk IF they need service ..

I just bought a custom Kw set from KW automotive motorsport department in Germany .. the kit is set up for a bit more bumpy tracks , like the ring

What spring rates do you guys with these valvings run?
How do you experience the setup, to much oversteer?
What swaybars do you run? If you run the 19mm rear one did you try to loosen it up?

500lb fronts, 600lb rear no T-bars. MO30 sway bars set to softest on the rear.

It drives neutral with the sway bar softest but it feels wrong if that makes sense, braking is really bad. You can feel that the sway bar set soft is a band aid for the front struts being to soft.

About 2000Euros , that should be like 2600$ .. expensive !?
Just because we have cars from the 80`s don`t mean that we have to use stone age technology suspension setups

Btw whats up with Leda !!? Out of busniess ?Leda web page
