Default Installed my B&B Exhaust--why does it sound like a ghetto ricer?

ok, just got my b&b in and not impressed with the sound. car is all exhaust now--miss the engine whine sound. surprised everyone likes them so much because to me it sounds like every other annoying exhaust out there. is this how it's supposed to sound? mine is a used early 1 piece (cat back with cat)--not sure if they are different from the current model.

friends standing by outside when i took off in it said it was really loud. annoyingly loud. annoyingly call the cops and everyone look at me loud. of course from inside it's all noise and when the boost comes on it changes from an exhaust sound to a sound of pressurized air being forced through a friggin' cannon, loudly.

just wondering if this is common. already miss my stock sound and stealthyness. (sob, sob . . . .)

yeah, i guess "rice" isn't the right term. it's not a fart can sound, just loud. i was angry when i wrote the rice thing. it is deep and rumblee but it actually rattles interior panels at certain revs, especially on downshifting. i was actually having fun revving the hell out of it but not sure i would want to deal with it everyday on a daily driver. also, when i took it to redline EVERYONE in the vicinity looked up like, "what the hell is that?" and in a city like here that is just a bad idea. in other words, it will attract unwanted attention from cops. i just prefer a completely stealthy car which you can get around without anyone noticing and that's pretty much gone.

i can't believe that this considered one of the "quieter" aftermarket exhausts. i even started up my car when i had removed the stock exhaust to hear what it would sound like with no exhaust and it wasn't much louder. of course, you can't produce any boost while sitting still so i'm sure it would be damn loud when the boost came on, but idle & slight revving were about the same.

yeah, i guess that's it. sounds pretty close especially when you let off the gas & it sort of rumbles. i just would have preferred a lower tone/volume.

i guess i'm just an unhappy bastard in general. just going to miss being able to redline the car without attracting attention from everywhere as i drive fast and even in the sity of LA i rev the hell out of my car nearly everytime traffic permits. now it's just going to cause everyone to want to race or close the gap or, you know, all the things other drivers try to do.

Make sure you don't have an exhaust leak.. Also, my Borla muffler changed sound over the first couple hundred miles.. I think mufflers "break-in" like this.

I also felt my 3" flowmaster was a bit loud, so I replaced the cat delete section of the muffler with this

http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/pr...oducts_id=3203

So now I'm runnnig a regular SS flowmaster at the end of the car and this small bullet muffler inplace of the cat delete.

It worked well and was an exact fit on the Lindsey 3". It quieted the sound down quite a bit and made the note much less harsh.

Talk with Dave at Lindsey Racing about them. I got it through him and he even got me a good price break.
