heavily discussed topic (YES I've searched)... CO$T to make and deliver 340+ RWHP
I just want to check these prices w/ everyone to see how expensive it is to make and DELIVER 340+ RWHP (EDIT<16psi on pump gas) I see people say they can make 400+ RWHP for $$6 or 7k and I don't understand how??
Turbo/MAF/Piggyback/Wiring 3600
Injectors EDIT ~235
Spark Plug Wires 80
FPR 70
Dual Port Wastegate EDIT:~300
BOV 100
EBC 300+
Clutch/Flywheel/Pressure Plate 900
Wider Wheels/Tires $$$$$$$$$$$$ (my 16x8 Fuchs have 225s on them..I know I can go 245 but will this be anywhere near enough?)
Revalved Shocks (might as well go coil over) 2000

Total: EDIT:$$$$$$$7585.00+++++
+ well maintained healthy engine $$$$$
+ my car already has 3" from cat-back. I think I can make 3" from the downpipe to the cat-back (no catalytic convert) for a few hundred?
what parts am I missing for that power goal?
are any of my prices out of whack??

I made 405 at the wheels with a Vitesse stage 3.
Everything else was stock, except the clutch.
I used a stock shimmed wastegate and no cat.
I was using a ZT2 datalogger also.

If you drop the $2k from the suspension you're under $6k....which is right around what people say. I don't see the catch here? I'm sure a lot of people who say they make that power for the price don't count suspension or cosmetic mods to go with it.

BTW: I DO NOT want to start all the pissy-moany vendor war garbage that usually comes w/ these threads. If you know you can get these parts for way less and recognize my prices feel free to PM me w/ details rather than posting something about a vendors products/pricing that will start immature arguments

ST... you made 405hp on pump gas w/ less than 18pis with a little more than $4000 and many hours tuning? (Excuse me; I've never read about your earlier dyno runs.. only the 24 psi/xylene/VR head run)
skene: the catch was that in my searching I was starting to see that my list of goodies wasn't going to make 400+ rwhp w/o expensive gas and high boost

You can get cheaper injectors and save about $90. Get a black **** boost controller and save a few hundred. Less expensive suspension.
Turbo/ maf etc.. doesn't have to be that expensive but somewhat close.

I just don't think you are going to be able to make 400+rwhp on a 2.5 liter without enough boost to demand higher octane than pump gas. 350-375 rwhp maybe, but not 400+. Then again, I think anyone running over 16-18 psi without some sort of octane enhancement is risking a rebuild in the near future.

You asked about HP yet you're including suspension/wheels. While I agree suspension is more important, you asked PURELY about Horsepower. It can definitely be done for under $7k just going for power.

Your WG is about $100m too high, go with a stock 993 bov (why get a bigger one when it just dumps into a foot long 3" tube that is oen at the end?), and bigger tire contact patch (245 - 265/275). Suspension work is not lumped with engine upgrades.

As far as including suspension (perhaps I shouldn't have included it in a comparison to people qouting 6K) However, another one of my constraints was to make AND HOLD (should have said deliver?) the power thus the clutch and revalved shocks.
As far as black **** vs EBC.. seems 90% upgrade to the EBC
Perhaps my topic is too broad (and incorrectly worded)!! But I like the info so far..

EDIT: Take away the suspension and you're still near 6k.. would those mods make 400 RWHP at reasonable boost and octane???
EDIT: can someone direct me to 993TT BOVs for sale?
