Default Problems mounting To4e

I am having problems mounting my new turbo (t04e with a .60 a/r comp housing). I came up with a mod that clears all the water piping issues so that is not the issue. My issue is that I can't for the life of me get the turbo mounting bolts (on the motor mount) to line up. It seems to me that the compressor housing is making contact with the mount. I can't seem to get the turbo far aft enough. I have removed the pre-cat exhaust section for clearance, and the crossover lines up perfectly. Has anyone else had this issue? Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Not trying to be a smart a$$, do you have the center section upside down, take a careful look at it and see if you see an offset from the "top to bottom". A lot of turbos arrive not indexed correctly, some not even close.

No offense taken, it is actually a used turbo and it shipped with the downpipe attached so it has to be somewhat close in regards to indexing. It just needs to move about 2mm aft. Any and all ideas are welcome!

Did mine a few months ago and only problem was trying to connect the 3" maf inlet to the compressor inlet over the top of the alternator. It went together fine with a standard silicone coupler, but it sure didn't look that way at the time.

The alternator is not in the way (barely). All I can see from underneath is the back end of the compressor housing making contact with the motor mount leg. Everything else is out of the way.

Is it hitting a bolt or the actual body of the compressor housing?

Loosen the compressor and hot section housings, put the bolts thru the mm into the center body, then figure out the correct housing alignments.

I had to have a new turbo to ic line made.

That's extremely odd, as the turbo was on my car and fit perfectly. Can you take photos?

Guys fyi, this is my old (new style) VR State 3. It should fit.

That is what I was thinking Mike, but it is off by 2mm. Bad casting on my car? Or maybe I'm just having a brainfart? I'll get some photos later, I have to commute 900 miles to work tonight!

Take a close look at the indexing bolts -- I had to take one out and grind the head to about half its thickness to get the flange to sit flat.

Grind down the turbo mount where it is making contact with the compressor housing without grinding too much and messing up the seal for the O ring.

It is hitting (as you look at the front of the turbo), at the 6 o'clock position. Just beneath the mount.
